Also just seems more instructive to recognize how systemic oppression operates within any society regardless/because of government structure—reading the Soviet Archives now it’s clear how when a critical approach becomes dogmatic, it ceases to be critical.. and how praxis flows downhill 💀

I keep joking about it but I really feel like my sense of effective socialism was forged in the process of being a younger sibling in the 90s and my older sisters friends all embracing the most hardline ML ideologies that were ultimately unproductive toward building any semblance of socialism

It’s also just interesting reading about uniquely American perspectives on socialism throughout these neglected periods of serious struggling to find an affective left politik…which he remarkably did within building the foundations of DSA 🌹

💯. Something I’ve been realizing I was fortunate in having grow up within was having an older Gen-X sister whose friends all adopted the most cliched leftisms of stagnant inflexible dogmas & them all becoming conservatives meanwhile the more measured + read socialists shed their egocentrisms
