Yeah I’ve been thinking about that too but my internal concept of how that looks is the new species form would still use Gimbal’s color palette primarily. It’s not hard for me to see him in the new species, but it is hard to divorce him from his color palette or change it significantly.

Yeah that’s true. Right now I’m trying to sketch out some ideas and build a better picture of what I’m envisioning. One of the bigger concerns I have is how far can I go and still feel like the name and body are still one? Like if I add to many colors and change the fur patterns, is it still Gimbal?

Idk maybe I'm over complicating this but it feels like a big decision. I do have other OC ideas I want to make but this idea just kinda hit me this week and I cant get it out of my head.

The thing I like about the lore of the Drazerk too is that they are somewhat shape shifters and have a secondary form. I could make that form a maned wolf and that would keep Gimbal's past canon and let me keep using the leggy form when it makes sense.

I have loved the maned wolf form Gimbal currently takes, but I have had my eyes on the Drazerk species that ThanShuhai made for a long long time. I have been toying with making a new character based on my Cali adventures, and I still may, but that got me thinking about changing my species entirely.

I’ve just been on go, go, go mode for too long without a meaningful break.

This project is not going to end anytime soon. I’m the primary POC and handler at my company for a subcontractor that is just getting started up working on site on the most critical path work we will have for the remainder of the project, and they have been having a lot of growing pains.

But yeah, it stung a bit to hear how obvious it is to others that the long hours and new responsibilities are starting to wear on me.

They were kinda just joking about it but they’re really not wrong at all. The last month at work has been exhausting and just… a lot. It’s definitely taken a toll on me mentally and I do see the effect it’s had on my demeanor at work. Going to take a little step back and try and reset soon.

My PM and contractor superintendent made an observation today that kinda hurt to hear. We were chatting today and the Super paused, looked at me and commented “What happened? I can’t ready your face anymore.” To which my PM chimed in with “Yeah it’s harder to read you now. You don’t smile anymore.”

Just booked my ticket to IMSA at Laguna Seca! I am so excited to see this race in person! It’s such a legendary circuit and race, and it’s been on my wishlist for so long to watch a race there. It’s been a couple years since I’ve been to a race. Pic from 1000 miles of Sebring a few years back.

Ryō Hirakawa piloting the number 8 Toyota GR010 at the 1000 Miles of Sebring in 2023. This was the last year that WEC ran the 1000 miles of Sebring race before they moved over to the Lone Star Le Mans in Austin. I took this photo in the braking zone of turn 7 during the race. This is one of the best spots to watch the race from due to it’s location at the end of a high speed section, being the inside of a hairpin corner, and having a hill to watch from. Most of my favorite photos I’ve taken at this race were taken at this corner.

It’s still not officially awarded cause it has to go to congress to get confirmed, but if/when that happens they will put a team together to assess the scope of the work needing to happen. After that a larger team is pulled together to do the work.

What sucks is that ULA has amazing people all over the place and the common sentiment among people leaving is that they will miss their coworkers and feel bad for unloading work onto them, but they can’t stand to work at ULA and are not happy with current leadership. And tbh I feel the same.

Thank you! I really am excited for the assignment. ULA is about a decade behind competitors in development, underpaying most of its employees compared to our main competitors, and ignorant to the fact that both of those things are driving people to leave the company with increasing frequency.

After this assignment is over though... thats where things get real interesting lol. I am pretty sure I won't still be at ULA at the end of this year. ULA is genuinely dying a slow and painful death and I don't think I can stick around much longer. So many have already left, so many want to leave.

Im honestly excited to be going out there, but I also know its likely to be more work and more demanding than anything I've done to date, so I am a little nervous.

This... is going to be an interesting year for me. I leave on Friday for Vandenberg Space Force Base where I will be working, for the next 3 months at a minimum, on getting SLC-3 over the finish line and ready to support Vulcan launches starting Q2 this year.
