It's that time of the semester again... anyone have any idea what is going on with the International Dunhuang Project (/Programme?) site these days? Most (if not all) of the image links are not working, whether using the new(ish) British Library site or the old Chinese one...

Agreed! But also want to hijack this post to highlight a very special exception, @postmedieval.bsky.social, a journal that has been doing a lot to push these boundaries. They also happen to be seeking proposals for special issues / essay clusters RIGHT NOW! sites.google.com/view/postmed...

Ecocrit question...I see the word "entanglement" come up a lot lately. It makes sense even without context, but I'm curious if this is a concept with a traceable history? Does all talk of components of ecosystems as 'entangled' refer back to the same source? Feel like I'm missing something...

This Gary Bettinson interview with Johnnie To in Asian Cinema (2024) is truly amazing. Other people who Johnnie To considers overrated Anthony Hopkins and Daniel Day Lewis.
Interviewer: Johnnie To's Collateral is an enticing proposition.
JT: The script I read was set in New York, not LA...The studio could not convince me about the quality of the story. Who cares about Tom Cruise? I don't like him - his acting is so lousy. But of course, he is a superstar. But how can we change his persona and acting style? We can't.
