It's raining outside, so obviously Flynn has to come and let me know.

The alarm clock is furry, and doesn't have a snooze button.

Central facility science papers tend to have longer author lists. This is definitely not the reason I have a respectable number of citations. I'm a real scientist, honest...

Soft and floofy. Just like the cotton wool between her ears.

She has, however, just emitted the most noxious cloud of gas... 🤢

Hi Nori. How have I disappointed you today?

Andy Smith @evilokapi.bsky.social · 15/10/2025

I'd come and say hello, but it's cold outside and there are cats here.

Andy Smith @evilokapi.bsky.social · 15/10/2025

Ah. Sad news about Tilly. She was attacked in the summer by a dog and didn't survive.

Andy Smith @evilokapi.bsky.social · 15/10/2025

She was quite a bit smaller when we got her in June...

110

Andy Smith @evilokapi.bsky.social · 15/10/2025

She's called Flynn. She's just 6 months old.

Taking a day off to help get over this stinking cold and upper respiratory tract infection. Flynn feels that chest compressions might help...

Nap finished. Time for mayhem.

@envirosynch2.bsky.social The two younger cats get on. Sort of... 😂

Old phone screen died weirdly. Phone was on, but the screen totally blank. Not broken, because rebooting it gave the Google splash screen. Just completely blank in user mode. Anyway, new pixel phone, new camera. Enjoy Flynn and Honey in 50MP HD

Indeed. Don't really know any of the details, thankfully I feel. We received a call from a vet she was taken to saying they'd tried to help her but were unsuccessful.

Andy Smith @evilokapi.bsky.social · 09/08/2025

Yeah, she got attacked by a dog. 😿

It's been a couple of months since Tilly died, and we haven't had a single bird, or mouse in the house since. I think we know who was doing all the hunting, and that Honey is a bit crap when it comes to murdering small creatures.

After only a week of new scary catflap*, both cats that have microchips seem to have mastered it. Much to the chagrin of Flynn, who isn't chipped yet. Adult cats 1 - 0 Kitten *Catflap makes noise when it recognises chip and unlocks. My cats have never dealt with this before.

Don't mind Honey. She's just sat in her box. Having an existential crisis.

Been a bit lax at cat posting here on BlueSky. Here's a selection of Flynn recently.

Ginger kitten who has just been washed down with a wet towel, because she wasn't washing her face and neck properly. The fur in the back of her head is all stuck up.

Her front paws are gripping the hand, and she is trying to bite it. One of her eyes is squished shut in the struggle.

Great to meet you too Andy! Here's a recent photo of Flynn. She's getting bigger.

Cat coat genetics are really fascinating. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_coa... The really rare combination is a calico or tortie male, as this requires them to have three chromosomes instead of two, and they're nearly always sterile.

Female gingers are more common than most people think. About 1 in 5. I learned this over on Twitter, when we discovered Flynn was female. You'd think they were like unicorns the way some folk responded.

Andy Smith @evilokapi.bsky.social · 09/07/2025

I mean, she's very orange. Honey and Nori don't really know what to make of her. Honey is cautiously friendly. Nori hates everyone, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

110

Andy Smith @evilokapi.bsky.social · 09/07/2025

She's super affectionate, a little bit wild but shows signs of having the brain cell more often than not. Probably because she's a she, and not a he...
