Early medieval re-enactor. Graphic designer. Occasional bodger, even more occasional poet. Famously hates space. Three kids one of each, trans ally because it's the only way to be human. Welsh.

How about pigs? This one was taken by my great grandmother around 1910ish. You can't have it though cos it's a Welsh pig.
Old photo of a man with a pig. The man is holding the pig by the chin. The pig finds this hilarious. The farmer, I suspect will have the last laugh.

Oh I hate these lost skills arguments. I've heard so many times about 'skills lost forever' That are being practised by numerous reenactors and practical archaeologists. BTW, It IS possible to be a medieval re-enactor and not be awful racist.

What about this wonderful head/handle. Or one of the big flared penannular brooches or even a really cool macro shot of the intricacies of one of the tortoise brooches in Dublin Museum?

My dog wouldn't eat her breakfast this morning, she's an erratic Romanian streetdog that we rehomed. It took me a while to work out why she wouldn't eat. It was because she hadn't had her morning cuddle. Idiot dog

Also looking for Steerboard images, I stumbled on these: Damage to the steerboard in shallow water (and that's a big piece of oak) and the subsequent repair by one of our skilled crafts people

Thank you!😁 In reality she (the Bear) is a bit of a tub, she's squished up at both ends to fit on a trailer that can be towed by a suitable vehicle. But in a certain light she can look good.

From personal experience of these types of boats, It's really easy to damage the steer-board in shallow water (especially the odd sticky out bit) so having a punting pole in the shallows makes a lot of sense.

Unless you've worked on a government service, It's hard to explain how complicated and how many dependencies there are. Usually there's legislation to consider as well as pretty much every service needing a paper/ person to person counterpart. It takes years to even understand a service.
McFadden said ministers wanted to rewire the state to function “more like a startup”. He announced plans to simplify Whitehall’s recruitment process for external candidates and to offer tech workers year-long secondments in Whitehall to tackle some of the public sector’s biggest challenges.

Can't remember the last time I actually posted anything. So here's a poem about my dog
Dog. A div. Looking like a muppet. I've realised I'm not a dog person - Myles Stevens (51½)
I’ve realised I’m not a dog person
At the tender age of 51
We’ve had dogs all our lives
And they all bloody smell
This one has eaten the wallpaper,
Four years and it’s still a mess
The mutt has eaten my slippers
I’m stubborn, I wear the half slipper left.
Mangy, hirsute, noisy and jealous.
And so’s the hound.
Is this a beast or burden?
She ripped the handle off the door!
I walk her most days round the block
And collect her shit in a bag
Just when they’re getting good, they die
And rip out your heart.
I’ve realised I’m not a dog person
Except the alternative is so much worse.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Flying Sleighs on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched fairy lights sparkle in the dark near the Tanenbaum Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in snow. Time to die.
The most miserable Santa you could ever imagine.

So many medieval BoP look like that! I was designing a logo recently based on the Cropthorne cross birds, it ended by being way too parroty so I borrowed the head from a 12th centaury manuscript.

Wychurst is a wonderful place, I'm not remotely spiritual, but visiting this place is the closest I come to feeling that way. It was miraculously built by Regia nearly 25 years ago, entirely by volunteers. At night you can sit in the hall around the fire and hear wolves howl.

Hello, new to Bluesky. I'm a committed early medieval re-enactor. Somehow I'm Eolder of Regia Anglorum one of the best, most committed re-enactment societies in the world. But I would say that. As well as the usual combat sport, we have a manorial burgh in Kent called Wychurst.
A large building in the Early Medieval style with around 100 re-enactors standing outside. The interior of Wychurst, by candlelight Me, Slaughtering some hapless 'fishy'A battle at Wychurst. Warriors with spears in two lines.
