Today should have marked the end of my walk at Inverness! As it is I’m in a pub in Ulverston watching the football. I will complete the walk! I’ve just got to shoehorn it into a cram packed schedule I had for next year! But I’ll make it happen.

Decided to bail the 156 at Dalmuir partly as it was an oven on board! But rather conveniently I was able to get the stopper here which will take me right into Central station!

Time to head back to Glasgow on the train… This train ticket is £33.40. The coach earlier was £4 Great to see the bus fare cap. But will the bus fare cap damage rail usage? I guess time will tell!

Made it to beautiful Oban! Regardless of poor legroom, that was a very pleasant journey with Citylink on service 976. No boats trips today. Time to go and get some lunch!

15 minute delay at Tyndrum while we wait for the delayed Edinburgh to Fort William coach which had passengers on connecting onto our coach to Oban. Positive is had chance to stretch legs & use toilet. Negative is it’s eating into time in Oban 😬.

Decided a quick day trip to Oban was in order… coach there, train back is the plan! As we depart Buchanan bus station I find myself looking at Ember coaches and regretting my decision to use Citylink! Timings was better with Citylink!

Good morning. Last night I stayed at the Ramada hotel in East Kilbride. A very good nights sleep on a very comfy bed. Shower also very spacious and powerful. Only booked less than 48 hours in advance. £43. These days, even on a Sunday night, I consider that good value! www.booking.com/Share-4X0s12

On my way to my hotel I decided to hop off at Hairmyres to see the newly located station. Love to see a transport interchange that works so well! Train pulls in, bus sat there waiting for the passengers. How it should be!

This afternoon I met up with @sarahwiththetrains.bsky.social and tried to avoid the rain as much as possible. To do this we went on the Subway, a couple of buses and then when the blue skies appeared we went on some trains! Just a general chilled afternoon was had!

It’s been a long couple of weeks allowing my foot to mend! I’m getting out and about again now which is helping the mind! My mind hurts from not completing the walk, but then it hit me… I’ve not completed it, but I certainly will! It might not be this year! But I’ll finish the walk one day!

Funny how quick I can go from marching across fields on Friday to ending up in A&E on the Tuesday! Doctors not concerned for any long term damage. Looks like a muscle injury which with plenty of rest should heal fine. Thanks to everyone for the messages of support. They really mean a lot!

A post I’ve been struggling to find words for 😞 Yesterday morning I found myself totally unable to put any weight on my left foot. 24 hours later I’ve spent longer than I’d like at hospital and the doctor was very clear with I need to rest and not walk 🥺
