Geez Severance is well written. My psoas is trying to kill me so I've been afforded the luxury of a lot of TV time

Top shelf weekend here. Played a football friendly this afternoon and we crushed them but aside from that the vibe was impeccable. Football is life.

Got the juniors back into football training tonight. Some haven't kicked a ball in 5 months. Some have improved a little bit. One has gone through puberty and suddenly looks like a different (better) footballer

Due to an administrative error one of my favourite juniors is coming back after a season in reps. Now I get to say that I hired well during the offseason which is important for my coaching CV

I have invented a mocktail called "I just mowed the lawn". Half fill a metal milkshake cup with ice. Add 30mL Bickford berry cordial and 1-2 Woolworths generic electrolyte tablets. Fill to the brim with fizzy water.

One [unimportant] thing I will say about the Musk-Trump transition team is they look like any child in my U14s football team would beat them in any 1 v 1 physical contest. Football, pushups, wrestling, sprints, 5k time trial. Every single one of them would lose to a 14 year old.

I'm on the verge of committing to learning to play this album (drum parts only) end-to-end open.spotify.com/album/0qwqlN... Brant Bjork - Jalamanta and yeah I prefer the remaster. Anyone keen on the lead or bass parts let me know.

They have this model in a lot of degrees and it's insane to me. We had to do 12 months of placement in engineering, but it was paid work. I couldn't have managed a year unpaid.

I just had a perfect taste memory of a prawn cracker I had in a Chinese restaurant about 30 years ago. It wasn't particularly good, but for some reason my brain has just regurgitated it in perfect clarity No I can't smell toast

The only upside that is sustaining me with Elno Watch is that when he comes off the metaphorical rails it will be very entertaining assuming you are at a safe distance. I'm betting on full ego death, probably in public.

Are car chargers going to end up like USB a cables where there's a special angle you need the plug to go and you've got to stand there driving your hip into the side of a 300A DC plug

I think this is the most frightening switchboard I've ever seen, apart from a few inconsequential little ones in warehouses. This board runs a 500 seat pub in Coffs. Which no exaggeration I think had a fire?

I'm going to set up a Discord server where we talk about how great a particular album is. Have like a channel for each album, eg "Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms" and in that channel we talk about all our favourite bits. No negative talk.

I think Fischerspooner's album #1 might be about/supportive of trans kids coming out. I'm pretty sure that's what the single off the album "Emerge" is about. It's an all-time banger in this household. Time and place stuff. But also dirty, deep synth and hammering house beats.

I called in sick for football tonight because 1. I hurt my hip digging a trench like an idiot and 2. Kick off is 9:20pm (!!!) Anyway, the perfect scenario happened and the game was rained off anyway so I missed nothing

There's a guy I know through work who I've seen around the sector in various ways for a decade. The whole time I've had this burning feeling that he's a total spiv. Absolutely all mouth and no trouser. I'm still not sure.

We've done heaps of earthworks in the last month, very much a breaking eggs phase of making this omelet. Now as a result, there are loads of potential new water runoff problem areas, and I want to know where the water will go. It's been threatening to rain for *days* now

France has added a 1.6 GW reactor to its grid after 17 yrs building. It will be taken off line shortly for repairs as discussed in the thread. In that time, the US added 191.8 GW of solar. After accounting for capacity factor (~25%) that's still 30x the capacity added. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨🔋

After years of pretending that nuclear is necessary for heavy Industry, the Liberal Party’s nuclear costings show the opposite. The only way they can make nuclear look cheap is for the Liberals to base their costing on less Australian industry.

Tingle is half right here. Spud doesn't need to play the voters for mugs; that's not who these 'costings' are for. They're aimed squarely at our political media who are hungry for a fig-leaf to allow them to deploy their trademark 'both-sides' journalism. Will they fall for it? Of course.

The opposition finally unveiled its much-promised nuclear energy costings yesterday. It will be hoping Labor continues to prove it is not very good at politics.

The Frontier Economics report's most important chart. Emissions reductions are the primary reason for the energy transition; fast reductions are crucial. If the nuclear pathway is slower (as shown), then it fails at the first hurdle. It may be considered a long-term hedge, however. #auspol

Nuclear power keeps the corporates in charge. No wonder it's conservatives' preferred solution to climate change | Tim Hollo
Tony Abbott says he has ‘no theological objection’ to nuclear power. That’s fair – only blind faith could justify his belief in a power source that’s so costly and risky
