Still thinking about that crow question from last week? The short answer: her town is next. The long answer, how he chooses her and what it costs her, is what I'm writing now. Pieces of it go to The Circle before anywhere else. evcaldwell.com/TheCircle #Booksky
“I should have let her stay hidden,” in light text written over a wall of black crow feathers.

The Fifth Season: The Broken Earth Trilogy @nkjemisin.bsky.social gives one of the most accurate representations of grief from death I’ve ever read. As someone with a young son, this was especially difficult to process but important to recognize. #AmReading #BookSky #Fantasy

What would convince an ancient crow to offer his last soul bond to an untrained mage? He won't let her town be next, but using her magic will leave her visible to whatever is ravaging it. More of this world goes to The Circle first evcaldwell.com/TheCircle #Booksky #Art by @geekycleary.bsky.social

A decade ago, I found an empty, lit carnival in Vienna, strangely suspended in time. That same quiet strangeness lives in the book I'm writing: an ancient crow, an untrained mage & a soul bond that could save her town or expose her to whatever is ravaging it. 💙📚 Art & lore evcaldwell.com/TheCircle

Mistborn: The Final Empire I’d heard more praise for this book than almost any other, and Kelsier drew me in almost immediately. The sensory differences between the metals made the magic system feel especially vivid, even in busy scenes. That was where Sanderson’s work shined through. #BookSky
A young woman with short dark hair crouches in a balanced, athletic stance. She wears a purple-tinted dress and a matching "mistcloak" composed of long, flowing tatters of fabric trailing behind her. She looks directly forward, holding a pair of glass daggers in her hands. The city's silhouetted rooftops fade into a soft, hazy purple mist behind her. The author's name, BRANDON SANDERSON, is printed in bold yellow text at the bottom, and the title "MISTBORN" is in large yellow letters at the top. Directly below it in smaller type is “The Final Empire.”

Pluribus A dystopian sci-fi drama & dark comedy that I couldn’t stop watching. I’m always drawn to stories that let one character carry the full weight of an impossible premise. At times, it was uncomfortably plausible in the real world. For the best experience, go in as blind as possible. #TVsky

Penric’s Demon Bujold’s writing is a reminder that the right flaws make a character infinitely more interesting. While it isn’t the strongest novella in the series, it’s a charming introduction to Penric and the unconventional, platonic relationship that underpins the books. #BookSky
