😂😂😂 oh dear! You don’t know much about voters’ behaviour! 😂 They vote on the basis of how much support a party has = what other people vote; they get influenced by the media, by friends, family etc. They vote strategically which is based again on how other people are likely to vote, etc.

The UK government (previous ones too) are unfazed by the many thousands of academics being on insecure & underpaid contracts as well as the many thousands losing their jobs. Teachers don't grow on trees and I suspect that cuts in humanities & social sciences impact adversely on other depts too.

for instance, in the UK they went for the wrong heat pumps. That aside, voting is pretty social, not about individuals. Time to ditch the individualistic framework to analyse society. It's a contradiction in terms. 2/2

nope, cos climate change is too vague. Governments should do the maths. As a society, we've subsidised fossil fuels enormously, but very few people realise that. Decarbonisation is very disruptive and expensive in the short term. So far Govs have put the expense on people and been bad at tech. 1/

Most changes in behaviour are dependent on infrastructure and how society is structured. Let’s stop the neoliberal dogma of focusing on individuals. We live in societies and require societal changes. Start blaming governments, developers, planners etc.

We have big traffic congestion problems and are heavily reliant on cars. Train travel is around 1.9% of travel, less than cycling. It’s unreliable, expensive, and inconvenient. I doubt high speed anywhere would help much. :-(

Thanks for looking at Wales! Yes, the UK gov hasn’t invested in any infrastructure, but the Welsh Gov has lately, though mostly in the south because that’s where most people live. Back in the day they didn’t ask for railways to be devolved, so Wales doesn’t get Barnett consequential. 1/

They probably think that the French shouldn’t rule Guyana etc., the difference is that Jews didn’t have a country when they migrated to British mandate Palestine, Palestine back then was a British colony, and Jews migrated to escape persecution and death.

Trump historically wore Brioni, an Italian luxury company that makes suits in Italy. Here he flashes a Jos. A Bank label, a US company that long offshored its production to China and Bangladesh. They carry an associated label called Joseph Abboud, which is made in US. Curious he didn't choose that.
Donald Trump in a navy suit. He's opening the jacket, so you can see the label. A close up of the suit label says Jos. A. Bank.

Have you surveyed Palestinians? Have you done any research? I guess not. It’s not for me to ‘dialogue’. I’m not a representative of any part in the conflict. I’ve studied the conflict though and I have studied nations and nationalism. I have no time for ideology.

Those don’t understand anything about conflict societies and states in general. They should shut up. It’s not a question of seeing things in a different light, it’s a question of knowledge.

See you don’t know what you’re talking about?! 🙄 South Africa was colonised by the Dutch and the British who both had and still have a country of their own. Palestine was colonised by… the British (Ottoman first) And promised to two different people that didn’t have a country. Jews fled genocide…

It’s also easy to oppose because it’s a restriction. There should be more positive policies like free public transport, more park and ride etc. Those are harder, yes! They require taking space away from cars and spending money. 2/2

The opposition to 20mph limit rests on the flawed perception that there’s traffic congestion, it must be the speed limit 😬 Try to tell people that lower speeds make traffic flow better and higher speeds don’t get you to your destination faster. See brains fuming! 😁

The worst part of the motion is the aim of a ‘single democratic Palestinian State in all of historic Palestine.’ That’s a call for the destruction of the state of Israel. They respond to Netanyahu’s genocidal action with a genocidal project of their own. This is revenge, not peace.

Israelis and Palestinians have been in conflict for a century, how could they live peacefully together? Why should one culture be hegemonic? Unitary states have suppressed cultural realities and imposed a hegemonic culture, not just by force but also through economic and administrative means. E.g. the UK is a multi-national state. We live peacefully with one another, yet there are Scots and Welsh who'd like to see the back of the UK 2/

On the idiotic Greens motion, aside from the 'resistance' ideologues and lefty conspiracy theorists on Israel-US, I wonder whether their understanding of a 'single Palestinian democratic state' is also mere stupidity and ignorance. All states are cultural, social, economic entities 1/
