The 2024 Selig Brodetsky Memorial Lecture Dr František Šístek (Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague) on 'Balkan Jews: Hidden History' was absolutely fascinating. I.a. He drew attention to the acts of compassion by Muslim neighbours during the Holocaust. A helpful reminder.

A conference poster for the New Generation Group (NGG) 2025 event titled 'Archives, Heritage, and Memory,' hosted by The Parkes Institute at the University of Southampton on May 19th, 2025. The poster announces a call for papers centered around archives, places, and books as spaces of memory, exploring themes such as selection, exclusion, and interpretation, inspired by Jacques Derrida's philosophy. The conference invites postgraduate and early career researchers in Jewish studies to submit abstracts by 6:00 PM GMT on January 15th. Potential topics include material objects, family archives, virtual and immaterial archives, limitations of archives, counter-archives, conservation practices, and curating practices.
