"Inviting": The software should not be overwhelming or scary. Failure here is kinda the inverse of failure in viability, where too much is immediately visible and I can't form a mental model easily. You could probably think of this in terms of "branching factor" when it comes to menus etc 🤔

think of "sensible" as more "not awful". More specifically I guess two things: "Viable": I want the default layout to be viable for whatever I want to do, even if not optimal. Nothing I need should be eg hidden until I press a shortcut, it should be either visible or clear how I get there.

gendered nouns became less annoying to learn once I internalised that it's not really anything to do with masculine/feminine as with people, but it allows for having multiple non-ambiguous pronouns. Eg in English "it and it is on top of it" makes little sense, but in German can be very clear

Have lived in Devon and Yorkshire in the past, currently live in Cambridgeshire. I've only ever heard "text" used as a regular verb, if someone tried to say "in the past he text me" I would assume it's some kind of other word I just don't know like "techs'd" depending on how they pronounce it

Understanding the code means you can test around the areas you know may be suspect. If you don't understand the code, you're basically checking a black box's correctness. If you don't enumerate your entire input space then it could fail for all the cases you don't check

And how do you do that? Given that the space of possible inputs to most programs is too large to feasibly enumerate

Like I think a map of my connectome is "me enough" that bodily autonomy/consent laws should apply, but not "me enough" that I'd be happy for my current brain to be turned off and replaced with a simulation... I think subcellular and chemical information probably encodes a lot more that's needed

I think for decades the biggest brain we've been able to simulate is a worm brain, then recently (like past year) it was some kind of fly? The research was interesting (showing that it exhibited similar emergent behaviour even with an approximate virtual body) but still a way to go
