Made a little #GodotEngine plugin that removes the OS title bar and replaces it with a built-in one which gives the editor very slightly more space. it's probably incredibly janky but it's the thought that counts github.com/ettiSurreal/...

true highlight of the release: when connecting functions to signals, autocompletion will no longer add parentheses

kind of, the value is stored in the a vertex attribute and then the shader interpolates what's in between, here's a 32x32 grid for example

something I came up with after reading the part of the blog about closures: a simple fbm node group where you can just plug in any type of noise through a closure #b3d

want a cool blender tip? #b3d you can quickly switch between different objects in edit/sculpt/paint modes by hovering over them and pressing Alt+Q

bonus tip: numpad 8/4/2/6 also vary based on what modifier keys you press. - by default they orbit the center of your view - holding down ctrl make them pan the camera - and holding down shift makes them roll it (useful to orient yourself after using align view to active)

same shortcut in edit mode and pose mode for example.

want a cool blender trick? #b3d everyone knows about numpad keys and orthographic views, but not everyone knows about "align view to active" (shift+numpad keys), which goes into orthographic view while perfectly aligned to your current selection. Works in most modes!

want a cool blender tip? #b3d Want a cool looking anamorphic glare but are unsatisfied with the default streaks result? Try slightly blurring the result or using bloom as the input for streaks (or both).

want a cool blender tip? #b3d when using the bump node, DO. NOT. USE. STRENGTH. Strength acts more like "opacity" of the generated normals, while Distance flattens them, which gives the correct effect. The difference seems subtle but it's very easy to spot on others' work when you know about it.
High distance, low strength.Low distance, default strength.

want a cool blender trick? #b3d press alt + middle mouse button to center your view on what your mouse cursor is currently hovering over. this should genuinely be one of the first things taught to new blender users i'm shocked by how many people dont know about this

finished playing through Okami i absolutely understand why the game gets the praise it gets and i liked it for what it is but at the same time... i also understand why roughly only 1/5 people on steam finished it because for me it just felt like this.

so i never actually got around to making a full sonic model so i figured i might as well make one now heres how its going around an hour in

Assuming you're talking about the Repeat Zone, it allows for *much* more than just that, it's equivalent to a For Loop. The setup shown there is actually just simple fractal noise, you can swap the noise texture out for anything else that's applicable. Here's a Gabor Texture for example.

going a bit further... experimental accuracy test using the new NPR nodes this branch mainly focuses on im not exactly an accuracy person so this is mostly just eyeballed, but we might finally get perfect accuracy in modern blender if someone more capable gets their hands on this

a new experimental Blender branch adds Repeat Zones to the shader editor, which in practice means a dynamic octave hard cloud is possible in blender once again

i feel like godot could use the "zebra pattern" on things like the file system and node tree like blender has, though im not sure if its possible to do rn with themes

Finished the game(s) sonic generations is universally liked for a good reason, that game is always a joy to replay and shadow generations finally made me think the future of this series is not uncertain. its not perfect, but far more than just "a step in the right direction"

realized the state isn't persistent if you change scenes, so it'd require clicking the button twice easy fix though
