This new system appears to be “designed to fail.” If allowed to proceed, it’s likely to delay the distribution of ballots, cause confusion and chaos, and lead to both disenchantment and further distrust in election results. All to solve a non-existent problem of so-called “non-citizen voting.”

At UMass, for Ifat Gazia and Spencer Lane, we did something entirely new - a shared cup of tea, a signed travel mug for the graduate and one with multiple signatures for me to keep. Rituals are important, and evolving rituals is critical.

You crafted your own very lovely and appropriate ritual. I evolved the MIT ritual after Civic closed to use a "symbolic battle" - we would cross swords, and then embrace, reducing drama and stress.
