My kid recently said she was terrified of Anastasia, because of the guy who kidnaps her. She used to beg to watch it though! She’s a great horror fan now, and I can see how it started. So many kid movies start out with traumatic violence.

Oct 2-7 1939: In a direct reaction to the bitter 1934 Teamsters strikes, Minneapolis business leaders hold "Century" celebrations, jumping the gun on the city's actual centennial by 15 years. Civic organizers used the success of this event as a blueprint to launch the Aquatennial the next summer.

Nicollet Avenue in downtown minneapolis dressed in patriotic bunting, signs read "Minneapolis Century" and "World Center of Flour Milling", even though the city had fallen from the world leader 9 years earlier. The parades and street closures were intentionally anti-labor
