After trying to design an emotive sprite/mascot type thing for an app with no design background and the hammer of an ai tool I can say that I think goo designers will have jobs for years to come.

What if everyone decides llms aren't worth the fees the big providers are charging and everyone just buys nicer laptops and runs local models. (In a future where local models are good on less than top tier hardware). The whole datacenter construction conundrum might fizzle...for better and worse

Apple being forced to allow third party payments is transferring revenue from Apple to developers: Match said it expects to generate about $14 million of savings in the fourth quarter and about $90 million in 2026 as more of its apps adopt web payments and save on Apple Inc.’s mobile payment fees. !

Sora or ai slop tiktok does seem to be an indication the the revenue model of: “ai takes everyone’s job while open ai charges for the value once delivered by those employees” may not be panning out. So they are planning to sell ads instead

When did Americans get the idea that neighborhoods never change? I think of growth, industrialism, even westward expansion when I think of the ‘old days’ of America. Now we’re complaining at even the prospect of a neighbor building a porch, let alone a second story.

I think it’s important to understand the views of those you disagree with. Particularly in politics where we will need to vote for someone who this author may not vote for but could persuade people like him. I hate our president as much as the next Bostonian but this shows how we got here.

It's not moderates who weaponized this slogan, its the right. If you turned on Fox news any time 2020-22, you would have seen them replaying the same 3 clips of violence in cities and saying ’look what happens when you defund the police'. It's a layup for the other side and a self-own for liberals.

I appreciate that blocking bike lanes is bad, but what is this worker supposed to do when there are no parking spots or drop off zones on the street they need to deliver to? Genuinely wondering, is there a street design improvement that allows for both uses?
