❓Our most important question, do you have a pet? 💬 My two beloved cockatiels, Stuart and Rosie, who have been filling my days with whistles and songs for the past 9 years.

❓What excites you most about your research? 💬 Although it is effortless to make sense of an image that we see, it is usually ridiculously hard to write a computer program that would do the same...so working on image analysis makes me reflect everyday on how beautifully complex human vision is!

❓We love pets! Tell us more about Panda 💬This is Panda, she was terrified of life when we first adopted her from a shelter but has blossomed into a very loving, cuddly, cat who believes that she should be treated like a queen.

Kidney disease affects 11% of people worldwide. A transplant can be lifesaving, but sometimes the recipient’s immune system attacks the new kidney—this is transplant rejection, a major barrier to successful treatment. We want to improve understanding of this. 🧵 (2/6)

One good thing about cold-emailing from random journals is they occasionally remind you of some fun stuff you'd forgotten about. I made an #UpGoer5 post about our @etchacell.bsky.social #CitizenScience and #BioImageAnalysis from only the ten-hundred most common words www.authorea.com/users/157471...
A screengrab from an email saying:
"Dear Dr Martin Jones,

I trust this letter finds you well.

The Journal of <redacted> is writing to express its interest in your paper, "Making new ways of understanding very small building-blocks of life using picture-taking-boxes with a very large make-bigger-power".

We were impressed by the originality of your research and its relevance to the field covered by our journal. We would, thus, like to invite you to submit your paper for publication in our journal, subject to it not having been previously published elsewhere.

Submission Process: Please forward your manuscript as an attachment to this email or submit via the journal’s official page by 20th March, 2024.

We look forward to your response with interest. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Regards,
<redacted>
Editorial Manager"
