More paintings, with a 68-day gap between them.
Digital painting of a vaguely Martian landscape. There are red hills in the foreground, foggier hills in the distance, and a large plateau further out. The sky is pink with a small sun visible in the top-left.Digital painting of a vaguely alien landscape. There is a vast orange-colored forest surrounding a deep blue lake in the foreground, and a clearing of orange-tan grass neighboring both. There are large volcanoes & mountains in the horizon, some of which are snowcapped. The light-blue sky is interspersed with slightly colorful clouds.

Paintings I did recently, with 1 layer on 30-minute timers. Haven't really tried much digital painting before this but I ended up having a lot of fun with it.. admittedly, maybe I just like clouds that much.
Digital painting of a bay partially obscured by sandy shoreline in the foreground, with mountainous terrain on the other side visible far in the distance. There is denser cloud cover in the lower third of the sky near the far background, with small and/or streaky clouds somewhat framing a large portion of clear sky above.Digital painting of an ocean with two islands in the distance, set in front of a blue sky with 2 large clouds visible, one of which stretches down to the island on the left, which is larger than the other island and has a snowcapped mountain. There is fog slightly obscuring the horizon.

Sleep is a biological necessity, and sleep deprivation has real physical, psychological, and social consequences that need to be taken seriously. The way our society treats it as slothful to sleep according to natural rhythms (including midday naps and variant chronotypes like night owls) is evil.

Here's my autobio comic about realizing I was not just #asexual, but #aromantic too! I made this back in 2017 but it still feels as relevant as ever. [ #art #furryart #pride ] (pages 1-3 of 6, continued in next post)
My name is Chu. I've identified as asexual for many years.

I'm not sure when I first heard the term and applied it to myself.

But something about it didn't fit. I couldn't quite put my finger on why.

An asexual person is someone who does not feel sexually attracted to other people.
"That's me!"

This gives us an unfair and inaccurate reputation as being cold freaks of nature who can't feel love.
"(Thought I saw a quarter around here...)"

When I see other asexual people defend themselves in articles and interviews, their counterargument to those assumptions is usually something like...
"But I have a boyfriend!"
"I like dating!"
"I've had many sexual relationships!"
"We're married!"

Which is TOTALLY FINE, but... ...that ain't me.I've never been in a relationship, or even on a single date, in my entire life!

I haven't been rejected. It's not a matter of being shy. I just never paid that sorta stuff much mind. Who cares about that when I have comics to make and video games to play?

The only times I really care are when outside forces made me feel self-conscious.

"Don't worry, you'll find someone eventually!"

"Oh, I'm not worried."

"You just haven't found the right person!"

"I also ain't looking!"

There was one time when my mom kept asking me if I "liked" anyone. She wasn't satisfied with "no". She even assured me that it would be okay if I wanted to confess that I was actually a lesbian.
"UH..."

I appreciated the sentiment. There are millions of gay people who never got that kind of acceptance from their family.

"But... That ain't me!"I'm extroverted. I like going ot to meet people and make new friends.
"Hi!" "Hey!" "Yo!" "Konnichiwa!" "'Sup!"

No matter where I lived, I had no trouble becoming a part of a new network of friends. Whenever I travel to conventions for my work as a cartoonist, I make even more pals-- and I KEEP them!

There were times I tried mentally flipping a "romance switch" to see if anything would happen between me and friends I felt really close to. Could I see my best friends in a different light?

NOPE! I never felt anything different.
"Wanna play a video game?"
"Sure!"

And so it went until I read "The Invisible Orientation" by Julie Sondra Decker in 2016.

Aromanticism: People who are not romantically attracted to others are called aromantic.

"OH SNAP! IT ME!"

Last doodle for today. I feel like plants are under-valued as a potential subject for anthro design, or just for character design in general, or just in general general. #art #doodle #oc
Doodle of an anthropomorphic female Welwitschia (or a Welwitschified human woman?). The welwitschia's famously long & tangling leaves are used as a stand-in for hair, flowing mostly behind the figure, who is looking at the viewer to its side. Only the plant-woman's upper body, neck, & head are visible.

Some new(er) doodles I made #art #doodle
An abstract landscape doodle of some pyramidal structure with a strange tower, titled & sunken into the ground. It is nestled with jagged mountains & rock, some kind of fog or other substance, and what appears to be some giant truss or ladder-shaped object, or the remnant of some building. There are a few clouds in the sky with some kind of celestial body between them.A landscape doodle of a road going through a valley. There are various plants & bushes near the road, hills to the left of the road with trees on & between them, and a cliff to the right of the road. There are hills & mountains in the distance, as well as clouds and the sun in the sky.Doodle of some kind of gun attached to an arm by an axle going through a U-shaped mechanism. The gun itself is noticeably more detailed than the arm, featuring various stripes, lights, & design elements. There is another doodle to the right which shows the gun venting off.. something through its back end.Doodle of a fortress of some kind, nestled among highlands. It has a large tower and a rectangular building surrounded by walls. There is a road leading to the fortress, flanked by two cliffs with forests on their plateaus and a pond surrounded by grass & other herbs. In the distance, there are large mountains with snow-capped peaks, and large clouds in the sky. In the top-left there is an embellished label written with glyphs I made up on the spot.

Some old doodles I made #art #doodle
In the top-left corner, there's a doodle of a strange pincer-like structure with a large, stocky claw at its left end & a longer, seemingly jointed claw around its middle. There are 3 other doodles of a lobster/centaur-like creature with a squid-like face and with 2 of the aforementioned pincers on long arms. The top-right, center-bottom and bottom-right show it standing, sleeping, and rearing its arms for attack, respectively.A side-view of a spaceship with a tall, curved triangular front that tapers to a longer, shorter shape in the back. It has 1 visible reverse-L-shaped wing, 3 small visible guns, 1 missile launcher on top of the ship, and 2 visible thrusters. Near the back there is a long oval-shaped structure with stripes, one of which has glyphs running down its length, and another having glyphs that stop a third of the way through (presumably because I got tired of drawing them). To the bottom-right of the side view, there is a front view which lacks some of the side view's detail but clearly demonstrates that the spaceship has two wings.Doodles of some strange worm-like creature with a large head with 2 eyes, 2 mid-body segments, a posterior fin, and 2 small wing-like structures on the top of each segment, save for the posterior. There is a normal side view doodle, a normal front view doodle, and a side view doodle where it opens its wide, gaping mouth that is otherwise invisible.
The side view also lacks 4 of the wings for some reason.Doodles of some bird-like creature with a roughly pear-shaped body, 2 long legs, and a very large beak. It is shown in a walking pose, a standing pose, a sneaking pose, and some sort of leaping pose.

Philomatry (“love of the motherland”) is the term that describes non-dispersing diaspores. Salvia roemeriana produces outcrossed, high-dispersal fruits AND selfed, low-dispersal fruits. Low-dispersing diaspores are well adapted to the local environment. #Lamiaceae #dispersal #botany 🌾🧪🌱

❄️🧪🧵 In late fall through winter, ice sometimes grows into wild, gorgeous, and unusual structures variously known as frost flowers, ice ribbons, rabbit frost, hair ice, ice wool, and needle ice. Delicate and ephemeral, they're often found in forests. 📷 Wikimedia + Flickr (details in alt text)

Figured I should probably post on this site more often than centennially, so while I'm (metaphorically) throwing sketches at the dartboard, have whatever this is.
Digital drawing of a computer mouse, with a stylized mouse face (& ears) on its not-wire-end. This end tapers to a point, giving the computer mouse a teardrop shape reminiscent of a normal mouse.
The mouse also has left & right buttons, a scroll wheel, 4 buttons on its sides (2 are mostly implied), & a wire/tail sticking out. There is poorly handwritten text saying "me need smoother" below the mouse, on the bottom-left quadrant of the canvas.
The linework is dark-gray, rough, scribbly, and always has a circular end, as it was drawn with a mouse (or trackpad? I forgot), hence the subject matter. The background is a lighter gray.

Hello everyone. I've been lurking for a while now ever since I made this account, since I was moving when I made it. Not much time to draw as a result.. Still going through that process but in the meantime, have some old plant sketches.
Rough purple-ink pen sketch of what I guessed was Galanthus nivalis AKA snowdrop at the time I drew it, on lined notebook paper. Most of the leaves are pointing upward with a slight diagonal curve, while 2 are drooping somewhat. One of them is further away to the left and slightly twisted.
There is a single flower hanging from its stalk. A small, cropped portion of another sketch is visible near the top of the image.A rough, purple-ink sketch of what I guessed was Ajuga reptans at the time I drew it, known as a variety of bugle-related common names, on lined notebook paper. Its bilaterally symmetric flowers have a veined texture on the inside of its corolla, while the outside of its corolla is smooth & hairy. Stamens/pistils are visibly sticking out of the flowers' vase-like structure. The flowers are packed together in a raceme, below which there are (relatively) large, deeply veined leaves. There appears to be some kind of damage on the raceme's top.
