I live in a national park and the "wild, untamed, untouched" rhetoric drives me up the wall. The land has always been interacted with, and lived on, and managed, and also, it's currently being monitored and managed within an inch of its life. Nothing "untouched" about it. 🤦‍♀️

Heads up to Canadian writers, editors, and publishers. It seems the wait to register Canadian ISBNs has ballooned over the last few months from under a week to 2-3 months. You may need to plan further ahead than normal if you want to hit a specific release date. #writingcommunity #authors

I think I've run across it used in this way once or twice before, and it seems to mean something more like "in regular life." Boring people doing common things, as opposed to big adventures, high society drama, fiction, etc. 🤷‍♀️

This is a good question. Probably much farther back than you'd think, I did a quick database search for "in real life" and found a book titled "The Selkirk Settlers in Real Life" that was published in 1897. Not sure they meant the same thing by it though.

#currentlyreading "Spirit Gifting" by Elmer Ghostkeeper, a Métis elder from Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement. The blurb and cover don't really match the book's contents, which are based on a Master's thesis. It handles shifting lifeways and the loss of traditional land use practices. 📚💙
