The ACM Digital Library, where a LOT of computing-related research is published (I'd say at least 75% of my own publications), is now not only providing (without consent of the authors and without opt-in by readers) AI-generated summaries of papers, but they appear as the *default* over abstracts.

Call for bids for SSW 2027

The ISCA Workshop on Speech Synthesis, SSW, is the foremost international workshop on speech synthesis, and is organised every two years under the auspices of ISCA's Special Interest Group on Speech Synthesis (SynSIG: http://www.synsig.org). These workshops provide a unique opportunity for members of the speech-synthesis community to meet, discuss on-going work, exchange ideas and data, and compare results. SynSIG invites teams interested in hosting SSW14 as a satellite workshop of Interspeech 2027 to send a proposal, which should include:
• A planned agenda
• A description of local facilities
• A tentative budget, including estimated accommodation costs for participants
• A list of organising committee members
• The possibility of holding the Blizzard Challenge workshop at the same location, or nearby

As Interspeech 2027 will be held in Sao Paolo, Brazil, proposals with easy travel connections to/from there are particularly encouraged.

Deadlines:
• By May 31st, 2025: Send a firm commitment to write a proposal
• By June 30th, 2025: Send a proposal

Proposals will be unveiled at this year's SSW and then submitted to members of the SynSIG mailing list, with a vote being organised online.
