Supplement Toxicity: What It Is And How To Avoid It
Supplements can help fill the gaps when your diet is lacking in nutrients. But taking too much of any vitamin or mineral can cause supplement toxicity.

8/8 I hope this helps! I understand the desire to be as healthy as possible, but not everything that looks healthy is actually good for you. Many people overthink being healthy, but it’s actually simpler than you might think. Do your research, consult your doctor, and take care of yourself. 🫶

7/8 My personal experience: I only take fish oil, vitamin D3, and magnesium approved by my doctor based on our consultations. He explained why I needed each one, and it’s now in my medical record so it’s accessible in case of an emergency.

6/8 Did you know that taking a too many supplements can harm your body. Overloading on different kinds can damage your liver and gut. More is not always better balance and consulting your doctor are key.

5/8 If you think pharmacies profit more from supplements, that’s wrong. It’s the opposite. The supplement industry grew from $4 billion in 1994 to $35.7 billion in 2022 by using their advtange healthy marketing and influencers to promote products with promo codes. 🤑

4/8 Not all supplements list their ingredients accurately. Of 272 products tested, 51% had ingredients that didn’t match their labels. Steroidal products had an 82% mislabeling rate, appearance and performance-enhancing supplements were at 80%, and weight loss products hit 72%. 👈

3/8 You don’t have to buy expensive supplements, even if they come with a promo code. That’s usually just the regular price with the code applied. Use examine.com to review supplements it compares products and helps you save money.

2/8 Why consult your doctor before taking supplements? Everyone’s body is different. Some may be sensitive to certain supplements, or their meds might can't combine. For example, high blood pressure meds with the wrong supplement can cause dizziness or headaches... Blame to the wrong source.

1/8 When I say "safe" I don’t mean all supplements are harmful, but think twice—are they necessary? Many influencers promote them for their own benefit, with zero legit evidence, offering vague replies or encouraging you to consult the supplement company. Don’t you see something off there? 👈

Buying supplements based on recommendations from your favorite influencers? Just because they offer a promo code doesn’t mean it’s the right choice for you. Supplements aren’t one-size-fits-all. Always consult your doctor to ensure they’re safe and necessary. Let’s discuss! 🧵 #supplements #debunked

Thought I’d share a quick protein hack. Just add collagen to your coffee! Just one scoop equals 10 grams of protein. It doesn’t really taste like anything, maybe just a little. Merry Christmas! #protein #coffee #healthy #fitness

[6/7] Ex: Immunity shots (turmeric, ginger, ACV) are trendy, but science doesn’t fully back their benefits. They may have anti-inflammatory properties or aid digestion, making them great for recovery when you’re sick or restoring energy. However, they’re not magic or a replacement for good nutrition

[5/7] Look I love wheatgrass, immunity shots, and fresh juice from my juicer. I enjoy them—not because of detox, but because they’re excellent sources of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and hydration. They help me feel better and restore my energy when I need it. See next

[4/7] Remember, your body is designed to detoxify itself. Support it with healthy habits instead of relying on unproven detox programs. If you feel something is off, don’t reached out to influencers or supplement companies—Talk with your doctor!!!

[3/7] "Detox diets are a good way to lose weight." No! Any weight loss from detox or restrictive diets happens because of a calorie deficit 👈 not because of "detoxing" These approaches aren’t sustainable and often lead to falling back into old habits.

Estefani, you know? @estefaniyk.bsky.social · 23/12/2024
[2/7] "Detoxes can prevent or cure diseases." No! There’s no scientific evidence supporting detox diets in disease prevention or treatment. A balanced diet and healthy lifestyle are more effective.

[1/7] The best way to “detox” is by taking care of your body with balanced nutrition, staying hydrated, and staying consistent with movement...no extreme cleanses or special foods are required. Dont fall for any of stupid fads!

After the holidays, many people think about “detoxing” but the truth is, your body especially your liver and kidneys already does an amazing job of detoxifying naturally. You don’t need special foods, juices, or cleanses for this. 👈Let's Discuss!! 🧵 #healthy #debunked #detox #fitness
The image features the text “Healthy Detox Without the Fads” in bold, black font centered against a gradient background transitioning from blue on the left to green on the right. [4/4] Now you know how to choose sauces that work best for you! 👈 Feel free to DM or comment if you have any questions. Wait..why do I care about this? I used to be just as confused about why I had to cut out my favorite sauces. Now I know—and so do you! Everything in moderation is perfectly fine! 🫶
The image features a person with long brown dreadlocks sitting in a casual setting. They are wearing a black hoodie and a festive green headband with sequin-covered Christmas trees. The person playfully sticks out their tongue while holding a fork with a small bite of food and a nearly empty blue plate with food remnants. Their expression is lighthearted and humorous. [3/4] Most health influencers oversimplify with “Not this. This” and give minimal explanations, or eliminate foods just because an ingredient is “bad” 🙄 This confuses people and harms their relationship with food, making them cut out favorite sauces without knowing why. 🚩🚩🚩🚩
The image features an apple split into two halves, each representing contrasting emotions. The left half is red, depicting a “bad” mood with a frowning face, furrowed brows, and a worried expression. The right half is green, symbolizing a “good” mood with a cheerful, smiling face, raised eyebrows, and bright eyes. Below the apple, the word “BAD” appears in bold red text, and “GOOD” appears in bold green text. The design combines a playful and cartoonish art style to visually contrast negative and positive emotions.

[2/4] Key is to measure your sauce so you don’t have to cut out your favorites. If you want more sauce but fewer calories, find alternatives. I love Brianna’s dressing but limit the amount for flavor without using too much. I also love mayo, I don’t cut it out. I just spread less to stay on track.
The image shows a person with long brown dreadlocks wearing a festive green headband with sparkly Christmas trees. They are holding an upside-down bottle of Primal Kitchen mayonnaise with a green cap, pointing at the label with a serious yet slightly playful expression. The person is dressed in a black hoodie, and their turquoise ring is visible on their finger. The background features a kitchen setting with gray cabinets and a decorative backsplash. The label on the bottle appears to highlight nutritional information or certifications.

[1/4] Let’s use my sauce G Hughes as an example. It’s not just because it’s sugar-free it’s also because it’s low in calories (10 calories per two tbsp) and put it in my app MyFitnessPal. 41 grams for 14 calories! 🙌 Look at how much it coats my chicken, and I still get to enjoy the sauce.
A plate of food is placed on a digital scale, displaying 41 grams. The plate contains cooked chicken topped with a brown sauce (BBQ sauce) and a serving of mashed sweet potatoes. The blue plate sits on a speckled white countertop. A hand with fingers slightly spread, wearing a turquoise ring, is visible in the foreground.

I want to talk about condiments and sauces, so I thought I’d take a moment to share. Have you noticed how health and fitness experts often say, "watch out for sauces?" What does that really mean? Let’s discuss! 🧵 #FitnessTips #FoodChoices
The image shows a collection of various condiment bottles and jars arranged on a marble countertop. Included are a jar of Sambal Oelek chili paste with a red, spicy residue on the outside, a bottle of Heinz Tomato Ketchup standing upside-down, a glass bottle of Roland Sesame Oil with a green and red label, and a jar of Grey Poupon mustard with coarse ground mustard visible. There is also a container of Grandma’s Molasses with its yellow lid and logo featuring a smiling grandma, a bottle of Nishiki Sushi Vinegar with a white and yellow label, and a bottle of Spectrum Organic Brown Rice Vinegar. The collection appears well-used, with some bottles showing spills and smudges.

Saw someone on live (not naming names) say, "Don’t destroy Hearview—they care about us and accessibility for the Deaf/HoH community" But it seems they lack funds. I doubt they’ll create a new version—likely just patch the current product to make it look like they developed it. Just no! #Hearviewscam

[7/7] All of this is unfortunate. Hearview co-founders scammed the Deaf community by reselling smart glasses with the price jacked up 4 times. It’s insane to see so many Deaf influencers endorsing them without thinking twice about protecting our Deaf community.

[6/7] Speech2text glasses are still in their early stages.Be cautious of companies taking advantage of this trend. Inmo Go glasses offer good price via sellers in China but aren’t sold directly. Smart glasses like Hearview don’t have builtin captions;they rely on apps, so be sure to understand that.

[5/7] HearView’s parent company, Xiao-I, is based in China and focuses on AI. Their stock dropped 94.74% over the past year. The HearView Smart Glasses launch seems to be an attempt to grow their business and improve profitability in the U.S. market..actualy they mean in the Deaf/HoH/CODA community.

[4/7] I found confirmation from Reddit user Greybush_The_Rotund, who is late-deafened and a software engineer. They explained that Hearview didn’t create their own product—they purchased the $350 Inmo Go glasses and are reselling them at a huge marked-up price.

[1/7] @Ricashome, a Facebook influencer, discovered Inmo Go glasses and shared a live unboxing. She bought them from AliExpress for around $300. The black box and product design are nearly identical to Hearview’s, but she found Imno Go to be the better features.

With all of Luigi’s story, this is so hard for me to watch and process. It’s deeply emotional for me. I mean, I don’t condone violence, BUT nobody has done anything about the insurance—not during any presidential term. It’s all just talk. U.S. healthcare insurance truly sucks: deny, defend, depose.

[7/7] 80/20 Foods! No to diets unless you’re guided by a professional. 80/20 rule means 80% of calories come from whole nutrient dense foods like steak, chicken, veggies, and single-ingredient carbs, while 20% can be your favorites. Balance is key—some people who live to 100 even enjoy a soda daily!

[6/7] GET 7K–10K steps a day! I’m not lying—this is a HUGE contribution to your health on so many levels. People don’t realize how important walking is, not just for weight loss but also for longevity. Unfortunately, studies show many people don’t even hit the minimum 7K steps throughout the day.

[5/7] Stretch!! You don’t need to be like PRO yoga—just a simple routine to improve mobility, flexibility, and core strength. It enhances hip, knee, and back motion, engages your core, and helps maintain the ability to rise from the floor. Bonus: DO this everyday sitting cross-legged! Start TODAY!

[3/7] Cardio! You don’t need to be a marathon runner. Don’t be too hard on yourself—stick to the basics. Try a simple cardio machine workout or a brisk half-mile run or walk. The goal is to keep your heart and VO2 levels healthy. And yes, this is separate from your daily walking routine!

Ok with her original post… yes I’d call it torture to cut out her favorite coffee and sugar. That’s just diet culture taking things away until you’re “allowed” to have them again, which usually leads right back to old habits. That’s just not a sustainable approach to building a healthy lifestyle. 👈
