Looking for the country I grew up loving. Schnoodle lover, football fan (HTTC), would rather be snowboarding right now. Strong advocate for more dog-related content on BlueSky.

They probably just assumed the refs would ignore it like they'd been doing up to that point.

Ossoff would turn out more voters than Kelly and nobody on the left or right who is going to vote against a Jewish candidate is going to support Kelly but not Ossoff. The antisemites on the right aren’t voting for a Dem and Kelly’s record on Israel will turn off the ones on the left.

House Democrats Move to Impeach Defense Secretary Hegseth
In the resolution, which is all but doomed to fail in the Republican-controlled chamber, Democratic lawmakers accuse Hegseth of abuse of power and war crimes.

So it's okay for Mamdani to say "when the president is going to pursue policy to help the city I'll embrace the opportunity for working together," since he can't really do much, but since Dems in Congress can help advance policies that benefit Americans that is SO much worse. Got it.

No clue. Which ones are Jeffries helping with? And do you think we'd know about those texts if Trump didn't think the news might benefit him? In both instances the people involved are doing what politicians/electeds are supposed to do (ignoring the fact that Jared shouldn't be involved at all).

Mamdani, President Trump have been texting at least twice a week — as unlikely bromance blossoms: sources
Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani and President Trump reportedly text twice weekly in an unlikely political bromance that sources describe as 'friendly.'

Lack of interest in the bureaucratic parts of his job, dismissive attitude towards other officials, emphasis on appealing to Trump voters, mixed record on policy matters, racial blind spots, and his bs "regular guy" persona.

The nature of his earlier roles allowed him to do more positive things to offset some of the negative traits we see so much of now, but the negatives were still there imho. www.politico.com/news/magazin...

The Democrats’ Giant Dilemma
John Fetterman’s blue-collar progressivism has endeared him to Pennsylvania voters. Why are so many Democratic leaders opposing his Senate run?

Thank you! I stopped donating to all Dems after I discovered the large sums my elderly mom donated while battling cancer. Harry Pascal deserves criminal and civil penalties for elder abuse. @marcelias.bsky.social and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social should understand the damage they're facilitating.

Was a national civics competition for high-school kids ... Rigged? Biased? Botched? I followed one family through Trump's patriotic contest and found a remarkable story about our age of suspicion. For @notus.com: www.notus.org/national/ame...

Suspicion and Doubt at the National Civics Contest
America’s finest young scholars competed to mark their country's birthday. It led to a disputed finish in the age of mistrust.

Take down drones doesn't mean shoot them down. Video that just looks like a drone flying back to its owner or some other random site doesn't really seem like the kind of thing likely to go viral.

A large chunk of what looks like Congress not doing anything to push back against the president is in fact a consequence of their complicity in confirming his judicial and executive branch appointments and refusing to sincerely investigate or impeach anyone.

Reagan was just one of a very long line of problematic politicians that led to Trump. He's probably not even one of the 3-5 worst. Nixon/Agnew, McCarthy, the Congressional and other fascists who collaborated with Nazis in the 1940s, etc.

eskohn.bsky.social @eskohn.bsky.social · 15/06/2026
I didn't say that. I said he should be removed from his duties at the World Cup, and that's true no matter what he intended. Officials are trained to avoid doing stupid crap that calls their impartiality into judgment. That's not the sort of thing you should let slide for the WC.

Right, how could an Australian guy possibly know anything about the symbol that made international news when it was flashed by the Australian white supremacist who killed 49 people while shooting up a mosque in Christchurch, NZ unless he was terminally online?
130
eskohn.bsky.social @eskohn.bsky.social · 15/06/2026
Either way, he should absolutely be removed from his duties for the World Cup. No need for the press to label him a neo-Nazi, but the concern over potential bias, which he brought upon himself with his lack of professionalism, is enough to remove him from his duties for the WC.

The made you look game involves punching anyone who looks. Who exactly is he going to punch if he's playing with the whole TV audience? That's part of the context which makes the circle game explanation borderline farcical.

There are plenty of incidents of racism in soccer and among adults in general. Not sure there are any well-known examples of people affiliated with soccer, or adults more generally, playing the circle game. So, what makes you so confident that it's far more likely the latter?

🤦‍♀️the current, worst ever, POTUS is a man, the previous occupant, who was set to lose to this one, was also a man, so where does that leave us? Can we please just have a competitive primary without requiring candidates to meet certain demographic criteria, and then trust the process?

Agreed re: black voters but results in southern states with large black populations aren’t necessarily indicative of how Dem voters in more liberal states with large numbers of delegates will vote. Bernie would have been the nominee had Pete and others stayed in. Nothing else is obvious imo

Absolutely clear based on the long history of candidates who have done well after not even finishing in the top 4 in Iowa or NH and just barely securing 2d place in NV?
110
eskohn.bsky.social @eskohn.bsky.social · 12/04/2026
I don’t think Pete will be the guy, but you might recall that Pete was ahead of Biden until South Carolina. He got out after that. Had he stayed in it’s not clear which of the two would have gotten more delegates but it’s likely that neither one of them would have been the nominee.
110
eskohn.bsky.social @eskohn.bsky.social · 12/04/2026
And Biden flamed out several times before getting the nomination. Nobody here knows who is most electable in a given cycle. That’s why we shouldn’t try to discourage people from entering the race. Let the primaries serve their purpose.

eskohn.bsky.social @eskohn.bsky.social · 12/04/2026
We shouldn’t support or avoid someone just bc they’d be the first woman/gay/whatever POTUS. If someone other than a straight white guy emerges from a crowded primary field like Obama did then I suspect that person can win a general. Hillary and Kamala didn’t do that.

Israel simply does not have the power to force the US government to do something it does not want to do. What Rubio is doing here, by claiming Israel forced the US hand, is making Israel the scapegoat for a US policy he knows is unpopular. This framing is going to be so bad for Diaspora Jews.

Considering Trump talked openly about wanting to bomb Iran to go get the oil as far back as 1987, maybe this is just people perpetuating antisemitic tropes. Bibi is shit. Israel, like many countries in the region, is corrupt as hell. They're not the reason we're fighting this war.

FFS. You believe all things Rubio says now? Israel didn't make him do anything. Trump, Bibi, and neocons all fantasized about this for years. DJT spoke about it way back in 1987. It's sad to see so many accts that I thought would be better ignore that in favor of posts perpetuating dangerous bs.
