Haley Wakefield is an amazing artist, and also a scuba diver, so she was the perfect person to design the cover for A Planet for Reluctant Revolutionaries, my debut sci-fi novel coming out in May (but pre-orderable now). Please please please take a moment to admire it!

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Here's a plug for the Vigeland Sculpture Park in Oslo, Norway. This pic is of a bridge into the main part of the park, and it doesn't show some of the fantasy/alien/science fiction sculptures, but I guarantee, it's worth a visit if you're in town.
Along the railings of a bridge shrouded in fog are bronze sculptures of humans in various poses: embracing, child climbing parent, etc. Sculptures by Gustav Vigeland (1869-1943), Norway's most famous sculptor. These and other works can be seen at Oslo's Vigeland park.

I'm a Democrat in Maine. Tomorrow I vote on a slate of OVER 1300 candidates from my county to select 149 delegates to our state convention next week to choose the nominee to face Susan Collins in the fall. Do I know how many I can vote for? No. Do I know the deadline to submit my ballot? Also no.

In my own work, I’ve interviewed quite a few college-educated perpetrators. They justify their violence with a lot of the phrases we’ve heard floating around this week like, “It wasn’t rape—it was just nonconsensual,” or, “Yeah, it was bad, but should it ruin a guy’s life?”

The thing is, I think Platner is probably not a secret Nazi who is waiting to get into the Senate to flip on us. I think he's probably just an edgelord who currently believes what he says he does but who has given no evidence that he can stick with & work for a set of beliefs.

WINE FOR ROSES by Emily O'Malley Liu is out today! Get your copy in ebook or paperback at shirakipress.com/wfr“A lushly written novella full of intriguing magic and love of all kinds.” —E. H. Lupton, author of the Wisconsin Gothic series.

They say the stolen rose blooms best.

When Ethan Keating Mendoza is hired as a gardener at an old Victorian residence in central Indiana, he has one clear mission: make the roses bloom. Ethan's life is roses--he's the son of a hedge witch and a partner in his father's rose growing business--but he has no magic himself.

The Kilbride estate is wild and overgrown. The roses have not bloomed in decades, and Ethan fears he may be in over his head. Worse still is Louis, the peculiar trustee of the property, who lives under a bloodthirsty curse that ties him to the garden. But Louis gives Ethan a chance, and Ethan is determined to do right by the suffering roses. As Ethan and Louis grow closer, Ethan becomes increasingly desperate to save the man he loves from the garden's curse.

But the garden isn't letting them go without a fight.
