Check out this new moon crater. McGetchin Crater "...formed sometime in April or May of 2024, and is about as wide across as the two football fields placed end-to-end. The asteroid or comet that carved it was roughly the size of a small apartment building." www.planetary.org/space-images...

Comic artist Ulli Lust won Germany's biggest non-fiction prize for her book "Early Man was a Woman," out now in English. "The idea of an egalitarian society which didn’t diminish women is a wonderful realization for many people," she told me in an interview for @science.org. "We need that."

A steady rain on our morning walk. Most of the color changing leaves are hanging on in spite of the high winds and rain. Be like Grace and my other Border Collies - enjoy every day. For me that means remembering this even on Monday, when it is harder to get rolling.

On my morning walk the dogs and I saw a few trees down from the Nor'easter winds. One has fallen across the trail in the woods. We walked during a bit of a lull in the weather, more rain and wind predicted for today and tomorrow.

Discovered some sheep shenanigans on my morning walk. Likely a deer ran into the portable electric fence creating a hole for the sheep escape. They were enjoying scratching their sides on trees. When the dogs and I approached, the sheep hopped into the pasture and I put the fence back up.

For a while I noted we did not have milkweed plants on my farm. I thought about finding some seed for the native variety for the Monarch Butterflies. A lone plant popped up in the middle of the pasture this summer after the sheep had finished grazing that area. Now today a caterpillar!
