Y'all ready to do some good this week? How I'd Fix Atlanta has once again partnered with Undue Medical Debt to help out a bunch of our neighbors. As always, we need your help. Please give what you can and tell everyone you know. unduemedicaldebt.org/campaign/whe...

When Good Georgians Get Together, Great Things Happen
How I’d Fix Atlanta was a free monthly essay series for four years. It’s been a couple of print zines and a performance on a stage a few times. Quite often, it’s stickers. HIFA is large, it contains multitudes. Every September, we do a big fundraiser to abolish medical debt. From 2023-2025, we raised more than […]

Hey @iame.li am I right in assuming that a `place.stream.livestream` record without a end timestamp is still active? Or is there a better way to know which records represent currently active streams?

we're working on the v2 of our standard.site link cards. these cards currently link to both the article (top part) and publication (bottom part). they show a "Subscribe" button when possible, otherwise a "View Publication" button. what changes would you all like to see in the next version?

This is distinct from replying, where we suggest the language of the original post. Opting into that suggestion does not result in saving a language selection for future posts.

Eric @esb.lol · 21/09/2026
Hey 👋 we're looking for feedback on the language selector in the post composer. The way it current works is that if you switch languages and create the post, we save your last selection for next time. Would y'all prefer that, or have it reset to your primary language for each new post?

Eric @esb.lol · 21/09/2026
Yeah it's tough. What's your gut take: would you prefer it to default to English every time, or should it save the last language you used? We try to notify users if they're typing in a language other than what they've selected, but it's pretty error prone 🫤

Eric @esb.lol · 21/09/2026
Hey they read the rules let's hear them out
020
Eric @esb.lol · 21/09/2026
Hey! Yeah, this is a little confusing 🫤 it works as outlined here, has for years iirc. Do you think always defaulting to your primary language and never saving last-used-language would be preferable? We may be able to infer based on keyboard, can look into that 🤔

This is Knap. It's a new language I created that turns data into Markdown. Knap should feel familiar and comes with a wonderfully pleasant syntax to modify and format plain text.

we're hoping starter pack search makes it easier to find great people to follow, especially for newskies. people should be able to remove themselves from starter packs, especially since they are easier to find now, so we added that too. let me know what you think!

Indiana Jones saying how Marcus Brody is up to the challenge. Text reads: "My agent’s got a two day head start on you, which is more than it needs. It’s got friends in every town and village from here to the Sudan, it speaks a dozen languages, knows every local custom, it’ll blend in, disappear, you'll never see it again. With any luck, it’s fixed the tests already."Marcus Brody confused. Text says "*creating a PDS from scratch*"

Will be in the next release, should be late this week. Unfortunately requires a full release and not a quick update. It was an issue in one of our upstream dependencies.

During the transition, some recent edits didn't get migrated over. One of those was lifting the alt text length limit, hence the "max graphemes 1000" error. So just developer error. It's a slick system but it's a little new and we've got a _lot_ of lexicons to keep straight. We're getting there!
110
Eric @esb.lol · 01/09/2026
We're moving towards resolving lexicons from our PDS and using our new lexicon client, and away from storing lexicons as one big blob in our @atproto/api package.

Pinned posts are stored on your profile, but other apps can edit that record on your behalf as well if you're logged in. My first inclination is that perhaps another app edited your profile and accidentally deleted the pinned post? If that's not the case, I'm not sure what could have caused this 🤔

Eric @esb.lol · 01/09/2026
Oh good! I just scrolled back a bit, I was very curious about the length as well, that maybe our servers were choking on it or something. As far as I know that should never be an issue, but doesn't hurt to check :P

It's not possible for us to delete posts from a user, so my guess is that the posts are there but some validation error is preventing them from being shown. Just to double check, it's different from this thread, correct? Understand you're busy, no rush!
