There's some evidence that dehydration (on the plane and at destination) exacerbates desynchronosis - which isn't ideal given that you want to sleep on the plane on the schedule you're flying to! Also eating food closer to the destination schedule can help your liver know what time it is.

By the time you fly, you'll probably be going east with a change of <8 hours (you usually adjust about 1 hour a day), so getting bright light in the early AM before you travel and dimming lights in the evening can help. Some people wear sunglasses in the evening (or on the plane).

Circadian desynchronosis research is v cool. Starting to change your sleep time in advance can help with sleeping, but not with the desynchronsis part - which has to do with light and temperature. (If you wake up at midnight suddenly hot, that can be desynchronosis of body temp and sleep schedule)

My impression from the food safety newsletters I get is that frequency is not up, but scale is - so you hear about more of them because they are more likely to be multi-state. So about the same number of incidents, but higher volume of food.

Someone who can psychically diagnose you without tests when tests are exhausted. (Which they weren't, she did like four, fastest "fascinating" to "I'm tired of this" on record.) Also often someone who can explain to you that the secret origin of disease is trauma which you just don't remember.

She called herself an evidence-based doctor! When she saw my face go "???" when she said medical psychic she started explaining all the reasons this one guy in particular is really good and how he could zero in on sekrit trauma that was the real reason for sickness.

This was about inflammation and joint pain! She started out really interested in it and then when initial tests weren't promising (I continued to not have lupus or rheum) she gave up and proposed that it was probably the result of childhood trauma I didn't remember or that I should see a psychic

Okay I emailed them a follow up? And they said "it's aluminum" and I have been around this track before. Next I say "the page you linked says it's an aluminum alloy, alloy means there's something not aluminum in it" and they say "it's aluminum" and I say "it's an alloy" and then eventually I give up

I emailed them about it three years ago and they said "idk" basically. Out of curiosity I emailed them about it today and I got possibly the most infuriating answer I've ever gotten from a laptop manufacturer on this topic - "our laptops are safe but there are small amounts of CA Prop 65 materials."

I have idly considered a Framework laptop in the past, but I am very nickel allergic - and Framework is, as most metal laptops are, "aluminum alloy" with no specification of what the alloy is. (There are some forum threads on the subject but they're all broad - like "series 6000" - v unhelpful.)

I had this same PT experience and it SUCKED. I had to learn how to not lock my knees past straight or turn out my feet or lean on my pelvis. It did work though! I now walk almost like someone with regular knees! (Also I have pals who are climbers if you want recs/equipment advice.)

I believe it is NPR only! It's called NPR Serif. (You can find fonts used on a webpage using the inspector - in Firefox it's browser tools, inspector, find "fonts" in the horizontal menu in the right hand sidebar. If you hover over a font name it'll show you where it's used.)

Goldenrod is a prolific seeder, so if it does turn out to be one of the goldenrods, you can have a ton more filling in the space next year if you want them just by letting it go to seed! We planted some and now it handily fills in all kinds of empty spaces for us.

The tall one with long thin leaves is almost definitely an eastern North American native plant, probably a type of goldenrod or a type of aster. My guess would be goldenrod but it's hard to say for sure before it blooms without some details about the stem shape and texture.
