Because every show deserves a vid to this song, my VidUKon premiere was a Babylon 5 vid to Ke$ha's TiK ToK: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTj3... On AO3: archiveofourown.org/works/86073936

I started learning continental style knitting today and ?!?!?! I feel like I’ve just unlocked the secrets of the universe after five years of just assuming I’d always find knitting slow and difficult compared to crochet! My life has been a lie!

Found the banzuke from the last time I saw sumo in person.

The banzuke listing (rankings and results) from a sumo tournament, featuring Yokozuna Asashōryū and tournament winner Ozeki Hakuhō. So, really super old, in other words.

Our yokozunae on route to the Royal Albert Hall (to view the venue for the first time and witness its tranformation into a Tokyo sumo ring) when Onosato spots his likeness on a poster for the tournament! Now, Hoshoryu is on the hunt for his!

Guess who was the bravest boy at the Small Animal Hospital today? He is fine — It turns out he is likely fully blind, but multiple vets agreed with a diagnosis of Very Good Boy.

Duncan, a black mackerel tabby with enormous green reflective pupils, looks out from inside the mesh of his cat carrier

Trekkies: if you see this post your first experience with Star Trek. Saturday morning cartoons, awww yeah. I don't think I realised there *was* a live action version until considerably later.

Panicked to pick see 4 missed calls & voicemails from my dad, who didn’t answer when I phoned back. Checked the voicemail to find… him singing a song to his cat off in the background. “🎶 Little boy stinky cat, what a little stinky cat. 🎶” He phoned back to say he’d apparently butt dialled 8 people.

Every year I remember too late that I’d love a Eurovision vid challenge — vids to songs that have been Eurovision entries, from any year.

ilu random wood pigeon flying down the street on google street view

A screenshot from google street view - a shady one-lane road with hedges on both sides. A wood pigeon is flying down the road right in front of the google street view car.

Another shot from google street view, just slightly further down the road. The wood pigeon is still flying right in front of the car.

On further consideration - gpoy:

A set of three screenshots of Rosa Diaz and Jake Peralta from Brooklyn 99, on the phone with each other. In the first shot, the subtitled text has been altered so Rosa is saying, "Ugh. I can't believe I'm gonna make this vid." Second shot, Jake on the other end of the phone: "Well, you don't HAVE to." Third shot, back to Rosa, close up, saying, "Nah. I'm gonna." She looks extremely annoyed with herself.

I have complete timelines on two different vids! I don't really think I could pass either off as a gpoy, so time to flip a coin to decide on my VidUKon premiere? (Then post the other one now and use it for Vidder's Choice?)

At some point I worked out that today marks the point where I will have spent exactly half my life living outside the US. I don't know what you'd call that - half-lifetime overseas anniversary? Anyways, so that's a thing.

I had a dream last night that the first vid in the festivids collection was an epic, 12-minute long constructed reality Babylon 5 vid. So I know what I'm requesting next year.

It was good of the UCI Track Champions League to schedule an earlier start time today so that the track cycling finished just in time to switch over to the PWHL season opener.
