Even more immediately the war paint is mentioned in the description of Keepers of the Moon during character creation. No need for Leves or external sources.

There is a spot in the North Shroud, east of Fallgourd Float along the Murmur Rills where a fabled bluebell salmon is said to be found. I used to meet friends here in my early days. We would ponder over what the Ixali were doing on the far side of the river while trying to catch the Blue Widow.

A Keeper of the Moon sits atop a rock in the East Shroud, fishing, despite all the warnings that sitting while fishing is far less efficient. Across the water a small group of Ixali plot strategy for the next intermural game of mite-ball with the nearby Wailers. A treant looks on in the distance, undecided if it should take offense to any of this.

I'm always amused that for any social event in Elite Dangerous, when I party my Beluga somewhere it becomes a beacon for people to gather around. My old ship, Daedalus's Folly will be enabling me to make bad decisions in another Distant Worlds expedition. #EliteDangerous #DistantWorlds3.
