It's hard to top Eric Schmitt face-planting on the day he soft-launched his presidential campaign, but Hegseth giving a Daddy's Big Tough Boy speech, and then quietly announcing that he failed basic cyber security is pretty good too.

Democrats abso-fucking-lutely did not "move right" on immigration. They literally had a mass amnesty bill on the floor of congress! BOTHSIDES really is just rebadged conservatism.

I remain fascinated by the white dudes who forego basic personal hygiene as an expression of dominance politics a'la Ayn Rand.

A huge majority of child abuse is committed by a parent or relative, but conservatives prefer to invent stranger abuse instead because ultimately they believe in the rights of parent to abuse children. It's part of the wider authoritarian project.

Yeah, sorry, a lot of us wrote off from the genre entirely when it went full "Birth of a Nation". "Try That in a Small Town" was literally a top 40 hit about lynching, and we were all just expected to be ok with it because "Woke went too far" or some nonsense.

We actually do not need a Kid Rock of the left. You are not required to pretend to like Macklemore's music for social signaling!

I do like Mamdani, and think he provides a nice blueprint for how democrats can communicate effectively with voters, but man, I really do wish he would stop lending out his credibility to the fascists...

Mao literally committed the modern world's worst holocaust because he didn't like birds. He was a proto-Trump-level of insane and evil, and it's crazy that the post-Left is trying to sanitize that.

I've been a political radical my entire life, but at some point you realize that radicalism is a playground of the privileged. The fringier your ideas get, the more they depend on not caring about or relying on positive electoral outcomes.

Honestly, I don't care how or if you vote. Your vote is not a favor to me, it's a statement of your values. But when you try and tell people they shouldn't resist fascism for whatever reason, don't act put out when they call you what you are.

AES can say this, because he's talking to kind of a captive audience. What works in Michigan isn't necessarily going to work in Texas. This does highlight, thought, how post-Trump politics are more vibe-drive than policy driven.

The biggest problem with the DSA is that you can do the "working class whisperer" act, you can do the fringey prison abolition stuff, but you can't really do both effectively. They always try to split that difference, and they just can't pull it off. I don't think anyone can.

I've said it before: there is a very specific kind of performative rage that white guys do when they're asked, even gently, to check themselves...

Reminder that the DNC does pretty much nothing in primaries. These people get taken in by clown candidates who implode on their own merits, then invent conspiracies to save their egos.

If you really want to sus out politicians who will throw trans people under the bus, look for those who fetishize genocidal anti-trans regimes like the Castros.
001
Ernest P. Warhol @ernestpwarhol.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
The irony of a comment like this is that universal legal equality for trans people is dictionary-definition liberalism, whereas illiberal leftism leaves it case-by-case (and doesn't have a great record historically).

We actually can draw some conclusions about people trying to get us to support fascists. And no group identity really mitigates those conclusions either.

Ernest P. Warhol @ernestpwarhol.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
The "dems are anti trans" thing is not so much transparent ratfucking as it is purpose-built moral license for people who quietly hold much more nuanced opinions on fascism than they'd ever cop to.

Ernest P. Warhol @ernestpwarhol.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
A lot of anti AI people seem to assume that there's an off switch somewhere we can flip, but the truth is we don't really have an effective legal mechanism to stop people from writing code. And I think people are wary of giving *this* government another such tool of authoritarian control.

I think at this point it's legitimate to ask whether Trump himself knew in advance about the $5K, or whether it was just some dumb thing he blurted out in the moment.

The 9/11 attacks happened because 1 weird rich dude got caught up in a conspiracy theory about how the Saudi royal family (who were secretly Jewish) were developing “Super AIDS” in a lab below the WTC in order to suppress development in the Muslim world.

I feel like a Venn diagram of the people angry at James Talarico for doing a populism, and the people who still hold a grudge against Bill Clinton for ending "queer hunting" in the military bureaucracy is a circle.

Ernest P. Warhol @ernestpwarhol.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
There's really no getting around the inherent conflict between protecting the rights of trans people, and fetishizing the working class. Like, I'm sorry, this is what populism actually looks like!

One thing I find really fascinating is that if you look back at Soviet-era propaganda, the way they depict capitalists is very clearly feminized and racialized in a way that aligns with modern social hierarchies.

Forget "spreadsheet people" for a moment, we need to have a serious talk about the "hardhat people" who assign working-class authenticity to white dudes involved in the business of trade labor. Like it or not, cognitive work is work, even if it is being mostly done by women and PoC.

Ernest P. Warhol @ernestpwarhol.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
Once again, for the folks in the back: John Fetterman is literally just the median working class white guy. This is what they're actually like! This is what the White Left fetishizes!

Ernest P. Warhol @ernestpwarhol.bsky.social · 21/08/2026
Another irony of "spreadsheet people" is that there absolutely was a parallel moral panic in the early 80s when the first commercial spreadsheet software started to hit the market. It was supposed to put millions of accountants and clerks and mathematicians out of a job!

Ernest P. Warhol @ernestpwarhol.bsky.social · 20/08/2026
This has always been the problem with white economic populism: it operates on a definition of "working class" that includes millionaire contractors like Joe the Plumber, but excludes nonwhite, non-male admin workers making $14/hour. White dudes in hard hats are not magic.

What I don't get is...ok, so don't use it? Why the strange evangelical impulse among people who don't work in math or science, aimed largely at people who do?
