With regards to the lack of transit connectivity to Sepang International Circuit, I raise a rail extension idea: extend the ERL to serve the Sepang circuit and make it a race-day station to connect it with a rail link

Competent city authorities would have traffic management plans far in advance, like Osaka showing staggered road closures almost half a year before the start of city’s titular marathon, rather than having politicians acting surprised at road closures due to marathons

Took time to admire this lovely brick-styled and dense housing estate (with many features illegal in Malaysia) built as part of an integrated township development with a planned rail link before realising and shocked that it developed by… the UK subsidiary of Malaysia’s YTL Corporation!

Long overdue but here's a throwback to when I lots of fun showcasing what wayfinding in public transport is all about in the Works In Transit Exhibition held earlier in June at Sibermerdeka's former premises! Here's a thread over what was shown during the exhibition:

Amazing to see the government undermining its own public transport modal share goals by making driving even cheaper and subsidising more petrol for drivers at the loss of opportunity to reinvest in more buses and trains in a defining fuel crisis of our time

Sad to see the quality of transport-related journalism literally dropping in live time when you have a newspaper of record like The Star citing nonexistent MRT and LRT stations like Jalan Bukit MRT and Jalan Reko LRT, or even citing Kajang 2 as an LRT station instead of KTM

Went for a press walkabout at the Bukit Chagar RTS station and I cant help but notice the rarity of wayfinding signages in the whole complex compared to the scale of the building itself (and this was all I could spot!) Matter of time when paper signages shows up it seems…

I can anticipate one of the biggest mistakes the Chinese did was to get ECRL to use LCD displays for wayfinding Not because of known weaknesses with digital screens on public settings (poor viewing angles and contrast) but rather the maintenance culture of Malaysia

Good to see that the Selangor state government has finally taken interest in BRT expansion almost a decade after they talked to IDTP and TransJakarta of Indonesia While it may not be realistic to expand to Glenmarie or Kwasa Damansara, going to Puchong is a no-brainer move
State looking at BRT network expansion beyond Sunway
Saturday, 08 Aug 2026

SELANGOR is evaluating plans to expand its bus rapid transit (BRT) network beyond the existing Sunway line, to cover high-density corridors such as Puchong, Glenmarie and Kwasa Damansara. He added that the committee and Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) were also exploring potential collaborations with Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) and TransJakarta.

ITDP is an international non-profit organisation specialising in sustainable urban transport, while Trans Jakarta is Jakarta's government-owned road-based public transport operator.
Ng said Indonesia's BRT network began in 2004, with ITDP serving as a think tank and adviser to Jakarta's transport authorities.

Not to sound too conspiratorial but a transit agency leaving money on the table by extending the LRT3 free period may not be out of benevolence (RapidKL has the mandate to collect revenue today) but instead to buy time to fix alleged issues with its QR-based ticketing system

The Minister of Transport told Parliament of measures to improve public transport in Johor Bahru prior to RTS Link opening But the response rings hollow, with no details on timelines, maps of proposals, and repeats of bad practices from KL like relying on DRT and Park & Ride
Minister Question Time on 2026-07-02

I would like to emphasize to this honorable House that the Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the State Government has drawn up a traffic dispersal plan to strengthen the existing public transport system. These include the following services:

I. Stage Bus Transformation Program (SBST):
Through SBST 2.0, the BAS.MY service network will be expanded to 28 routes involving 254 bus units (including electric/EV buses), of which 157 bus units are dedicated to the JB Sentral/Bukit Chagar route. This phase is expected to commence in early 2027. In addition, the RTS Shuttle service, which is a high-frequency short-distance bus service, will also be introduced to connect JB Sentral/Bukit Chagar with surrounding locations.

II. Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) Service:
Introducing and enhancing a demand-responsive transport system to provide more dynamic and flexible first-mile and last-mile access to disperse passengers from the main station.III. Bus lanes: Create 16 special bus lanes to facilitate bus movement including the 5.6 km Skudai Bus Lane and the 10.3 km Tebrau Bus Lane.

IV. KTMB Rail Service Integration:
a) The Electric Train Service (ETS) has been extended to Johor Bahru starting 12 December 2025 with the introduction of 10 new trains. Currently, a total of 14 trips per day are provided.
b) KTM Southern Commuter: The Ministry is working to
procure 12 sets of Komuter Selatan trains as provided in the northern sector of the country
using development allocations. Pending approval, the Ministry has launched the South Shuttle services starting 16 June 2026 with a capacity of 14 trips per day.
c) The Government has identified 35 potential locations around the Johor Bahru region (involving government and private land) to be used as Park & Ride areas to encourage users to park their personal vehicles and switch to public transport.
