This piece about Alex Ross by Will Robin is the most meaningful recent reflection on music criticism. Laurie Anderson - the artist of saying exactly the words we need to hear today - speaking about the relationship between love and power. The deepest, most meaningful, and most effective showmanship I've seen. (Fair enough, I'm not a denizen of shows.) Priceless and free of charge. @Central Park

On this platform, I've been trying to follow only colleagues in music and arts criticism and academics working in disciplines related to my work. Yet all I see in my thread are complaints about politics! (And occasionally, some personal news.) Is there a time of the day to read something meaningful?

For the past 10 years, it has been getting worse. One thing that remained unchanged is: if your topic happens to be especially relevant the year you graduate, but few people are working on it, then you have a chance. After one year without a full-time position, it becomes more difficult to get one.

I spent an entire concert in earplugs for the first time in my life, but the performance was still mesmerizing. From a trance-like drumbeat, to gradually changing timbres and reverberations, to the guitarists' excitement, to Reg Bloor's energetic conducting, final dance, and theatrical collapse.

Thank you for your continuous support for Ukraine! What do you think of today's first page of the NYT? A piece about commemoration of Nazi collaborator is featured more prominenly than the bombing of Kyiv. If it happened in any other country, this burial would not even be on the news.
