Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 05/09/2026If someone told me that in order to make R4, Tsitsipas had to beat Fils, Harris and Lehecka I would've said "not happening". They all play a brand of tennis he's struggled with a lot last few years. Very impressive run from Stef. 2121
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 29/08/2026Anyway. I've had one hell of a summer. I am now a married man. 4160
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 29/08/2026It shouldn't bug me as much as it does that paid tennis analysts are only now figuring out Brandon Nakashima is one of the best servers on tour. The data has been there for years and part of the job should be to keep up to date on these things. 061
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 04/02/2026His first round match vs Kovacevic has just started! 040
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 02/02/202616 year-old Moise Kouame has qualified for the Montpellier 250! He beat world #159 Elias Ymer and #202 Clement Chidekh in qualifying. Ranked 551, Kouame has chosen to only play pro tournaments so far this year and has a 12-0 record after winning two Futures in January. 060
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 01/02/2026Two short sets. 1-1. What's left is essentially a best of 3 match with Novak not having spent much energy at all so far today. I think he'd take this before the match. 070
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 30/01/2026This is Novak's best performance since the Olympic final and it's not even close. I thought the days of Sincaraz vs Nole classics were over but I'm delighted we got (at least) one more. 1153
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 30/01/2026Being furious that your limping opponent is allowed to take a medical timeout is a choice. 0161
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 30/01/2026It's funny how this is probably the best tennis Zverev has played in over a year and an average-at-best Alcaraz performance but Carlos is still 2-0 up. 0171
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 23/01/2026Does anyone know of a good resource for tournament entry lists? 110
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 14/01/2026Ngl One point slam was fantastic. I watched all of it from start to finish. Riveting stuff. 040
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 10/01/2026I really struggle to come to terms with Damian Kust's passing. He was one of the good ones. Very few people can claim to love tennis as much as he did, let alone be as good a person as he was. Rest in piece. 170

Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 16/11/2025Both have been sublime this week so the form analysis won't get us far this time. Argument for JS: he can apply the Fritz playbook that troubled CA and execute even better Argument for CA: superb returning all week which will give him an edge especially as JS's serving often lets him down vs CA 220
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 12/11/2025I see Alexander "they're making the courts slow to favor Sinner and Alcaraz" Zverev is getting handily beaten by a one-legged Jannik on the quickest court in tennis. 1151
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 23/10/2025I have a lot of sympathy for players complaining about a long season and the number of mandatory events, but the second they start saying "well if I don't play I don't get as big of a bonus" I immediately stop caring. 1101
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 02/10/2025If you want so see some clean hitting, tune in to Kovacevic vs Shang. Both players very good to watch. 000
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 29/09/2025The Alacarz forehand currently reminds me of Del Potro's. It's insane the level of execution he's hitting his forehand with at the moment. Give him half a second and the ball flies right by you even if you're well positioned. 040
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 20/09/2025One thing I like about the Asian swing is that as a European you get a lot of morning tennis. Wu vs Korda with my breakfast on a Saturday? Don't mind if I do. 180

Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 08/09/2025Rather than talking about conditions and surfaces to analyze who of Sinner and Alcaraz has the edge, I think it's more meaningful to talk about current form. At both Wimbledon and now US Open the player who had played at the highest level leading up to the final went on to win it. 092

Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 06/09/2025Heart says Anisimova, head says Sabalenka. Let's do this. 080
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 05/09/2025Goosebumps. What a mammoth effort from Anisimova to make it back to another Slam final after what happened in the Wimbledon final. 1201
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 29/08/2025I love Adrian Mannarino as a tennis player. It looks like he's barely moving, just poking the ball over each time, and yet he keeps wreaking havoc for some of the best players in the world. Unconventional players are the spice of the tour. 3191
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 26/08/2025I've struggled to get into the USO these first few days and I wasn't very excited for it all. I've been racking my brain as to why and I think Cincy+Canada are to blame. They were so hard to watch and follow they killed all momentum tennis had post RG+W. These bloated Masters need to end yesterday. 091
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 25/08/2025When Fonseca starts opening up the court by hitting his forehand at 80% into big targets instead of constantly trying to thread the needle it's over for the rest of the tour (bar a select few). 110

Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 19/07/2025Kovacevic vs Shapovalov in the Los Cabos final. I've just spent 30+ minutes researching when we last had a final with two one-handed backhands and the most recent example I can find is Tsitsipas vs Thiem in 2019 (tour finals). 160
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 18/07/2025Ignacio Buse is officially on my radar. Looks like a really promising prospect. 020
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 13/07/2025Happy for Sinner. Unbelievably strong to win here after what unfolded in Paris. These guys are just built different. 1267
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 13/07/2025Alcaraz is able to anticipate almost every Sinner approach shot. Carlos commits pretty early so you'd think Sinner could either a) hold the contact a little and put the ball the other way, or b) commit to put a portion of the just deep middle to put some doubt in Carlos' mind. 020
Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 13/07/2025That Sinner hold to win the set was Alcaraz esque. Couple of great counter-attacking hustles and a running forehand DTL winner that painted the sideline. 040

Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 13/06/2025In an extremely tight match, Mikael Ymer wins 7-5, 4-6, 7-6. Borg was serving for the match at 5-4, 40-0 in the third set before losing the next nine points and having to save two match points at 5-6 just to take it to a TB. Erik Jonsson @erktennis.bsky.social · 09/06/2025One more thought on the final yesterday: I don't remember when I last saw Sinner play that aggressively. It's clear he feels he needs to up the aggression against Alcaraz - hit even harder, take the ball earlier and shrink the margins. It makes the match-up even more entertaining as a viewer. 190
