Im so tired of hearing people say “this isn’t what I voted for.” Yes. Yes it is. Trump was extremely clear about tariffs. Anyone with half a fucking brain cell should have known the economic havoc this would wreak. Smartly, I pulled 95% of my money out of the stock market in February.

I remember seeing posts from people saying other countries see laughing at us when Biden was president. I didn’t engage though because it was impossible to get through to them. I wonder when they’ll begin to see the embarrassment their votes have made the US.

I’m so sad right now. I know this will sound super privileged and I don’t mean it that way. As an unemployed Single mom of 3 teens I have struggles. I just sold my entire portfolio. I couldn’t chance losing more of my retirement. I think this is only going to get worse. A lot worse.

Mexico is imposing tariffs on US goods. The tariffs will initially be at 5% to 20%. The products: pork, cheese, apples, grapes, potatoes, cranberries, bourbon, steel & aluminum. They were chosen strategically because they have a significant impact on regions that voted for Trump.

Overall I think we’ll see some decent sell off over coming days as news from Mexico and Canada takes hold and until we see how China reacts as well as if trump holds his stance and even expands his policy to Europe as he’s threatened.

I cannot predict the future and the market always recovers. But if I were a betting woman (and I am) my money is on a decent dip over the coming days, yes. Rump may reverse after pressure like he has on other policy. But he’s unpredictable. He may hold the line on this.

I did order a monitor a few days ago. It’s a specific one I needed for my trading station. I wanted to get it before the tariffs take effect. It’s the only thing I’ve ordered in months. And it’s the last thing I will order for the foreseeable future. Costco snd Trader Joe’s only from here out.

Im with Charles Schwab and manage all my own investments. I Can put through orders that will execute at 4AM pacific. But some securities can trade 24 hours 5 days a week (I think that opens at 1pm today) and others at 1AM. I’m calling to find out the earliest I can sell.

What are your thoughts on your portfolio? I have my retirement entirely in stocks and I’m over exposed in the tech sector. So I need to rebalance anyway. Wondering if I should sell out of most positions and go to mostly cash. Buy into “tariff safer” stocks? Just rebalance and hope for the best?
