I know I’m a few days late on this - but the news that the University of Oklahoma suspended an instructor because they failed a student for not following instructions and using the Bible as a cudgel is another line of demarcation in the rising tide of fascism.

For a college essay, it’s remedial. It’s poorly constructed; its citations are non-existent; it shows that this person does not have a clear grasp on the goals of the course. Even judging on the citations of the Bible; you would find a student not qualified for the college experience.

From law, to the humanities, to the sciences, you’re asked to use the tools of research and academia to further your claims as a part of the larger pursuit of truth. There’s also rigid standards to help students properly site and utilize prior research . This student didn’t do any of that.
