Love that the @americanredcross.bsky.social staff know me now, sad and always reminiscing about when they had orange juice.

10/10 oh my God if there's a book out there that will give you hope of what we could be it's this one. We're a long way from the ideas presented here but it's given me more inspiration than I have in a while. Short, too. 2 hours if you're listening to it. #booksky 📚💙

10/10 can not recommend enough. A beautiful insight into fungi that explores vital aspects of their role in ecology and their impact on human civilization. A great companion for those interested in botany as well. The prose was spectacular and I can't stop praising it. 📚💙

SIKTC Continues to be one of my favorite comic series currently running BUT I absolutely hate how often words are bolded. It starts to lose the umph and I read over them like any other word. Comic authors, please use font more carefully/sparingly. 📚💙 #booksky #comics

Best app I've downloaded in years, @wikipedia.org's free, no ad app. I end up spending so much time on it just delving into random rabbit holes. Plus it has a daily game! Thank you @wikimediafoundation.org for creating something so phenomenal and helping me supplement some of my doom scrolling.

8.5/10 about 40% educational, 60% biography. Always interesting seeing the evolution of a far out there theory in the past to something commonly accepted and found as vital information in the present despite so much original pushback. Perseverance in your ideas is vital to advancements. #earthday 📚💙

Your local library is amazing and has so much to offer. Use it, support them, spread the word, explore their services, and maybe let them know they're doing a great job. Keeping this email forever, thank you Amy. 📚💙 #booksky
Screenshot of an email received after submitting just some general positive feedback to my local library. Email reads: "Hello,

We received your excellent and enthusiastic comments about the Library and wow! This might be the greatest feedback ever.

It’s always good to hear when one of our services like the Seed Library is appreciated. And the way it lead you to so many other things is wonderful!

Thank you for writing in to us. Thank you extra for being an active, engaged library user. Thank you even more for being a Library booster in the community.

Have a lovely week!

7.5/10 loved the concept and vernacular but wasn't a fan of how much personal anecdotes played in to the narrative. I would have preferred more of a focus on empty lots, rewilding, and how they're being utilized globally rather than the bulk being focused on one lot/area. Would still recommend.

Hands down the best part of buying used nonfiction books is seeing who the former owner, who you probably have no idea is, decided what they thought was important from the highlight, underlines, etc. then thinking about WHY they thought it was important vs why you think it's important. Love it.

Short rant into the void, but YouTube needs to separate your liked videos from the songs you like on YT Music. It takes me a full business day to find a stupid 30 second video to send to people now.

10/10 wonderfully written and desperately makes me want to F off into the forest and build a cabin in solitude. Mixes some philosophy in as well. Definitely going to pick up the 50th Anniversary edition for the shelf and see what the new forward has to say. The ending of chapter 9 was beautiful.

7/10 an interesting (and at times depressing) walkthrough of the America that was, the destruction we caused, and the rebuilding we're attempting. Learned a lot about the havoc we wreaked, the building of a revolution to save it, and the ways we're attempting to rebuild in the present.

9/10 it's was interesting having the natural world and it's wonders grounded in something most people see in their daily lives. Puts wildlife into a digestible context for nearly everyone. Would highly recommend to anyone who doesn't get out of the city much or thinks wildlife is just in the wild.

Knowing that some scholars from the 1800's didn't believe so many scientific concepts that seem obvious to us today like evolution, extinctions, and fossilization makes me wonder what we don't know/don't believe today scholars in not too long from now will see as obvious.

Low-key red flag 🚩: people who say they "own" a pet. I own a coffee maker, I HAVE a furry four legged daughter who chews my nice noise cancelling headphones if left unattended... On an unrelated note I like my new headphones.

10/10 incredible that Roxie did so much while navigating a sexist, elitist field and persevered through it all. Innovating both how birds are sexed, IDing them from feather structure, and saving so much of the Smithsonian's ornithology collection from decades of neglect. And her forensic work! Wow!

9/10 a fascinating insight into the coming of mammals that far exceeded my expectations. I'm glad that the section regarding humans was pretty brief considering how small a part of the equation we are. I recommend reading it instead of listening, because I'll be revisiting this as a physical copy.

8/10 I never thought fly fishing could have such a ripple effect. A wild story about how some disregard nature and history for what they see as beauty when alternatives exist but aren't "authentic". Sad to think of the things we'll never learn because of those who don't value the natural world.

9/10 if you've never lived in, or learned much, about these environments it's a must. I never gave much thought to these ecosystems and how much they contribute to the world, climate, and ecology. It intertwines both education, history, and role in fiction in an impactful way. Ch 2 was my favorite.

10/10 would recommend. Revealed how if some species are the bottom Jenga block of ecology, soil is the table you build it on. Informative and ends with action items you can take to benefit soil conservation rather than just ending and making you feel sad.
