Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 5hThis is someone who likely doesn’t work at all. If you’ve done manual labor the thing you’re doing the whole time is trying to figure out how not to. I was a delivery driver (Culligan, salt & water, heavy crap) and I took a soul destroying job making collection calls because that was still better. 1360

Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 15hYep. *I* like guns. I own them. But I don’t sit around posting about them or taking pictures with them and basically anyone that does is also someone who fantasizes about using them to execute home intruders or insufficiently patriotic friends, Red Dawn style, and yeah, that should be shamed. 000
Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 18h💯 This is the point of all the aggressive, hardline, procedural maneuvers I support. Not to make gains on policy (with the exception of “punish criminals, even if they’re rich Trump supporters”) but to force a new political settlement and break out of friend-enemy politics. 100
Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 14/10/2026And if Weissmann wanted to be a snarky asshole about a contemporaneous, targeted, yet foolish and ineffective public policy he could have taken a shot at the National Guard deployment. But nah, the Editorial Director at PPI wants to take aim at institutional progressive policy instead. 020

Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 09/10/2026There is absolutely no overlap to a Venn Diagram of “people who say they want less fighting and bipartisan solutions” and “people who would vote for a Democrat.” There is absolutely no audience for that schtick. Just give it up! 000
Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Exactly - every single person I know who does the “I’m sick of the partisanship and fighting, I just want them to work together to help solve our country’s problems” is a Republican who would “no, not like that” any bipartisan solution to any problem that wasn’t boilerplate GOP policy. 110
Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 09/10/2026But it’s also very hard to make any progress on the genuine problems that face our country when the vast majority of your focus is working with the enemies of democracy on corporate friendly deregulation bills to fill those coffers. I talk about this very dynamic more extensively in this thread. 000
Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 09/10/2026This is the crux of the problem, of course. Dem leaders see their prime directive as filling the campaign committee and PAC coffers in order to keep the Dem ad and consultant machine fueled, and it’s very hard to do that without working with Republicans on corporate friendly deregulation bills. 100
Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 09/10/2026This has always been my take. I think it’s very unlikely to deter most murders. I think it’s extremely likely to deter small dollar banal corruption. 010

When political scientists say most Americans have no ideology, this is what they mean. 3403
Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 08/10/2026And, of course, Musk isn’t special. No one can have enough money that everyone is willing to look the other way for a shot at a chunk of it. Billionaires are simply too destabilizing for the economy, for the political economy, and for society for them to be allowed to exist. 000
Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 08/10/2026So the problem is that this is correct, but that it’s on every line for every office so there’s no voting against it. Dems aren’t going to put Musk in prison because they think *they* have a shot at his money if they play nice. Only solution is taking his money so that no one chases after it. 101
Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 04/10/2026What’s fun here is you just know Paxton and other GOP operatives tried this same line on her so “broken marriage” wasn’t another trope he had to run against and her response must have been something like “absolutely not, for that guy, are you fucking kidding me?!” 000

Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I mean what you can say is that Republicans obviously don’t actually care about improper use of government funds intended to support the families of dead cops, so later when they pretend to as a line of attack on Democrats no one has to take that seriously. 020
Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Ok, it’s not a possible violation it’s a crystal clear one and where’s the bit in the subhed about how he’s doing it standing on the bodies of dead cops the way it’d be there if it was any Dem? 140

Erich DeLang @erichdelang.bsky.social · 30/09/2026💯, and the same goes for Richard Hanania. When people have you nodding along 95% of the time and then drop a turd in the punch bowl, find someone else to nod along to that doesn’t, even if you’re only nodding like 85% of the time. Pooping in the punch is bad, and if you tolerate it, you’re bad. 0261
