Today on MEANWHILE, it's JAY AASENG! I had a great time talking about working for David Lynch as his assistant, the various DavidLynch.com website projects, the majesty of INLAND EMPIRE, being the drunk on Twin Peaks: the Return, stealing Harry Dean Stanton's bag, and a LOT more.

If that ever happens, tie a box of spiders over my head and leave me in a cabin.

Tomorrow we're back with Part 5 of our INLAND EMPIRE series. And there's A LOT to talk about. This will mark the penultimate episide of our coverage of the film. Not including the as-of-yet unrecorded final episode, we've talked for just shy of 9 hours. Not bad for a three hour film.

9 years ago Harry Dean Stanton passed away. We lost a magnificent and timeless actor. Forever in our memory. Forever in our hearts.

The opening music to Lynch (one) by Sune Martin (at least I believe so) is so beautiful. As far as I know the soundtrack isn't available anywhere which is a real shame.

i think a virtual museum would be great. Still honor the show, its cast, and creators. But if it’s a new story…why? There are so few things that still have magic. And that came from the care of its creators. Feels weird for something so important to have “achievements.” Or The Dutchman’s DLC

Such a great interview with Alicia Witt and a very sweet and emotional moment at the end. Just be ready in case you find yourself moved to the point that you stare out your window, only to catch your neighbor looking back.

Since no one asked, what would be cool? An open world town of Twin Peaks where you can go location to location and see a museum style presentation with interviews with cast and crew, props, outtakes, behind the scenes stories, etc. Not a game, a celebration.

Yes, I would have a giant smile driving around visiting all the locations...but would it fade? Twin Peaks is so special maybe it should just be. I long for new dreams inspired by TP... also this is like Cooper going back in time and there could be a timeline with Twin Peaks characters in Fortnite.

I read somewhere that Kurt Russell was supposed to be the lead, and that would have been great. Would be so much more like Jack Burton. Woods is so self serious.

So much of the movie is just dudes yelling at Sheryl's character, slapping her around, or making homophobic remarks. There's potential, like it's almost fun at times. I think a different cast would help some of the lines land with less cruelity.

I initially dismissed those reports about a Twin Peaks game, but now it seems Sabrina Sutherland has confirmed a game will be "coming out eventually." I had a blast playing the fan game INTO THE NIGHT, but I'm a bit conflicted on an "offical" game that would tell a visual story without David Lynch.

She is good in everything, but I feel like she's wasted here. It's just steeped in that hyper masculine tough guy nonsense I absolutely do not miss about 1990s cinema. But maybe I'm too hard on it. Still better than my revisit of the Usual Suspects. I couldn't get more than 30 minutes in.

Somehow I’ve seen it twice already. And now like an animal I’ve got it on in the background.

I was up much so late editing today's episode and making that Queen Kelly video that I didn't realize the episode went out with some of the drops off sequence by a few seconds. This is unacceptable, and I will be firing our editor.
