This edition of BLACK STONE HEART is seriously one of the most beautiful things on my shelves. The writing and story itself is (obviously) fantastic. The binding is gorgeous. The typeset and pages are gorgeous. The art is gorgeous, and there's even an insane fold-out map.

@michaelrfletcher.bsky.social this is now simultaneously the most overkill and most absolutely necessary piece of art in any book I own. You, the artists, the production team behind the scenes, nailed it on this edition. I am beyond overjoyed.

Insanity edition of The Black Stone Heart by Michael R. Fletcher.

Book is opened up to the epic center fold out map of The Demon Empire. An illustrated, stylized fantasy map in portrait orientation that folds out to be 4x the size of a normal page in the text block.

New bookmail! More reading for the holidays. This time a series I have been neglecting on my TBR for far, far too long — @jcmberne.bsky.social's Hybrid Helix series. Wistful Ascending is up first, but I will be devouring all of these over the next couple weeks.

The first 5 Hybrid Helix novels by JCM Berne in hardcover: Wistful Ascending, Return of the Griffin, Blood Réunion, Shadow of Hyperion, Eyes of Empire.

New bookmail! This girl's got some gravity in her. Feels like a lead brick. ~1100 pages and pretty damn small font, too. I'll be consuming steadily over the holidays.

Holy. Fuckin. Shitballs. Just finished this little beauty by @michaelrfletcher.bsky.social and @annasmithspark.bsky.social What an incredible little grimdark romp. Absolutely gorgeously written. Great character work, and full of dark wit and gallows humor.

Not sure why this made me think of it, but '5D Chess with Multiverse Time Travel' is tagged as Psychological Horror and Survival Horror on Steam, and that will never not be funny to me

New bookmail! Pictures do not do these justice. So much art in these I'd have to do an irresponsibly long thread to do it justice. Karl Edward Wagner's Kane series by Centipede Press #booksky 📚💙

It started as a TTRPG campaign setting, but has since morphed into a fantasy novel (I think that's close enough) Unfortunately, Bsky currently compresses images in a pretty lossy way, but there is a lot of detail in the hi-res images #ttrpg #worldbuilding #fantasymaps #cartography 💙📚

Fantasy map of The Deralli Highlands.

Map depicts plateaus at the base of a mountain range, amid a sea of roiling Misty fog and clouds. The borders depict the various factions of the fantasy world

Dern Derall city map.

A fantasy map depicting a city built on a massive, terraced arch dam. Think The Hoover Dam, but make it fantasy

Does bsky like fantasy maps? I wanna see the cartography of your worlds! I'll start. Below is a map for my current WIP writing project (made mostly in Inkarnate, with some light photoshop for some custom assets) #fantasymaps #cartography #worldbuilding

Map of The Deralli Highlands.

Image depicts high plateaus at the base of a mountain range, surrounded by a blanket of foggy, swirling clouds. Iconography around the border depicts the various factions of the world.
