now that the moose broadcast has been pretty slow/uneventful this year, the virtual campfire function becomes all the more important: people stoke the embers and conjure up user activities to keep things fun & active

it's so funny how academic fields start their papers in such distinct styles. my people are always dramatic w it 'in the sixth mass extinction/in the global sustainability crisis'. my anthropology colleagues always at the micro level of vignettes 'the snow crunched underneath my boots...'

Given the long history of species releases and the diverse range of actors involved in them it almost seems like a human impulse. a bit like feeding animals. but this article does a good job unpacking the political dimensions of it.
