Please pause your scroll for this spectacular weevil. You're looking at one of the first two iNaturalist records of Systaltocerus platyrhinus, shared just in the last month!

@ericanadolski.bsky.social et al. present sex-specific chromosomal-level genome assemblies of the southern African beetle Onthophagus binodis; analyses show that the nine autosomes and the X chromosome are likely conserved throughout Onthophagini. 🔗 doi.org/10.1093/gbe/evag023 #genome #evolution
GBE | Chromosome-Level Sex-Specific Genome Assemblies of Onthophagus binodis Provide Insight into Scarab Sex Chromosomes

I wrote up a protocol for running art + activism events like Climate Change Crafting Night. We need more community, & we need people feeling empowered to take action and not just curl up in a despondent ball. Help them find the energy with art & community! Protocol: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Proud to share a new paper with @ecoevodevo-lab.bsky.social - this one feels extra special because I have two undergrad women in STEM as my coauthors! Check it out to learn more about pre- and post-metamorphic Hox expression & function in beetle heads! authors.elsevier.com/a/1lOdU2mzTk...
