It’s very sweet guys. But it’s not over the top. Still tastes like beer. And you can find the pumpkin. My friends call Black Flag the cheat code brewery. They rarely put out anything I don’t like. But for sure this is a dessert beer. And it’s like a sweet take on pumpkin pie.

Wednesday. Hump day. #survivor51. Tonight it’s Basic Bee from Black Flag Brewing Co. A-/B+ “Pumpkin pie ale brewed with maple syrup, honey, and spices”. 7.2% ABV Dessert beer, no doubt. The pumpkin is there, especially on the aftertaste. Very sweet. Nice color. #beer #beersky #fall

Felt crummy yesterday. Back at it today with Pumpkin Ale from Smuttynose Brewing Co. B- “Ale brewed w/ real pumpkin and spices”. 5.9% ABV Pumpkin very subtle here. More like a spiced ale with hint of pumpkin. #beer #beersky #fall (OFFICIALLY!)

This is better than Pumking. Although I should have waited until there was more of a chill in the air to crack this one. It’s sweet but not overpoweringly sweet. Not sweet enough to call it a dessert beer. Pretty well balanced in that regard. The maple is obvious but the pumpkin is subtle.

… The wheat ale base probably gives it too much sweetness off the bat. Overall it’s too sweet for my tastes. And it feels a little too much like drinking a scented candle. Sam Adams makes some good beer sometimes but this is not one of them for me.
