I worked my way through college in SoCal as an EMT on an ambulance crew (in the days before fire depts had paramedics). Those two Thomas Bros. map books never left my hands when I rode shotgun, calling out turns to the driver over the wail of the mechanical siren. They were *literal* life-savers.

The rules require a challenger to have evidence, which is a fairly high bar. But I suppose even without that, bad actors could use a flood of baseless challenges merely to disrupt, or to create pseudo-data to cite later in support of claims of election irregularities.

I worry most for low-mobility folks (the elderly, chronic fatigue victims, anyone without a car, etc.) and shift-workers, for whom the logistic requirements of voting in person (even Early Voting) can be overwhelming. We need to assure them their vote by mail still counts.

I'm championing vote-by-mail even in these parlous times b/c waiting till Election Day to vote is a *known* hazard. If anything goes wrong then you have no time to fix it, or if you're sick or busy that day you have no Plan B. Hey I'm a procrastinator too...except when our lives are in the balance.

Durham County Commissioner Nida Allam sending out a fundraising email despite not being a declared candidate for any office this year (a point regarding which her email is silent). Gotta say this feels intentionally deceptive.
