I find tiny reminders in old manuals that games are made by people who were proud of the work they did so endearing. For example, in the Donkey Kong Country 2 booklet we're encouraged to appreciate the bilge rat enemy Neek's "cool rendered fur", and they're right...that IS cool rendered fur!
