Heads up that EC! is no longer being hosted/posted on Webtoons and GlobalComix due to their embrace of AI and (in the case of Webtoons) intentions to scape comics for their generative "fan comic" AI.

I'm slowly working on comic pages, but it's been getting more and more difficult with *gestures vaguely* everything going on right now. I'll have a longer post later on. Pages will resume updating once I have a small buffer saved up.

Epic Chaos! Webcomic @epicchaoswebcomic.bsky.social · 30/06/2025

This weeks page is delayed due to Mel running out of buffer pages and then having multiple big projects all rapidly converge onto each other, leaving her an exhausted husk in need of recovery. Pages to resume soon.

3 characters in front of a blue, gradient background with electric sparks helping create tension. The first character is a blonde man with red eyes and chin stubble wearing a grey shirt with a red hoodie; looking concerned as an annoyed looking blonde haired man with chin stubble wearing yellow sunglasses and a green shirt has a grip on the other mans wrist with his right hand, while having his left hand on the shoulder of a woman with brown hair and blue eyes is pinching the hand on her shoulder, looking mildly annoyed by the other two men's antics.

I sketched these back in 2020 during the height of COVID & the BLM movement, but never finished them until now. EC! is not a political webcomic, but it does feature diverse characters, ones similar to people being targeted by a rogue government irl. Be safe. Be Loud. Don’t Back Down. -Mel ♥︎

Illustration of a blond man with glowing red eyes wearing a black face mask, red hoody, ripped jeans, and fingerless gloves stands at the ready to defend a crowd of protesters behind him.
Behind him is the word PROTECT written in a striking red marker style, with silhouettes of people protesting in the background.

Illustration of a man with blond hair and yellow sunglasses wearing a dark blue face mask, a blue shirt with a red band pattern on the front with white text that reads “EVERY VOTE COUNTS”, and a name tag on a lanyard that reads “SIERRA VALLEY POLL WORKER NATHAN”. He is holding two cardboard boxes that are taped up, the one on his shoulder is labeled as containing “I voted stickers”, while the one in his other arm being balanced on his hip reads “Blank Ballots”.
Behind him is the word VOTE written in a striking red marker style, with silhouettes of people protesting in the background.

Illustration of a nurse with brown hair tied up in a pony tail, she is wearing blue scrubs with a red Fanny pack, blue medical duffle bag, and a red backpack wearing a white face mask with a Red Cross on it, and protective glasses and medical gloves. Behind her is the word HELP written in a striking red marker style, with silhouettes of people protesting in the background.

Illustration showing a woman with brown eyes and light brown hair with purple dyed tips wearing a face mask with a cat face drawn on the front, a backpack with various buttons and pins saying things like “ACAB, F*CK UR RACISM, #BLM”, purple and black stripped arm warmers, a ripped up T-shirt that says “RESIST” on the front, denim shorts, and fish neck stockings with black boots. She is carrying a spray canister in one hand, and some white signs with red letters “F* IC” visible. Behind her is the word RESIST written in a striking red marker style, with silhouettes of people protesting in the background

[Part 1] Here's the process for making my Epic Chaos! pages to celebrate #WebcomicDay, featuring todays page update :D Process starts with thumbnails, sketching, inking, & then base colors! #EpicChaosWebcomic #WebComics #Comics

Process image of the comic Epic Chaos!, on the left it reads "THUMBNAILS • Thumbnails are drawn with a cheap ball point pen (I kept getting perfectionistic with my thumbs when I used pencils) •Drawn on the print out of the chapter script • They are TINY (barely
3"x1" inches)

The right side shows crudely scribbled characters drawn with a ball point pen on paper. The bottom reads #WebcomicDay

Process image of the comic Epic Chaos!, on the left it reads "SKETCH • I tend to get invested in the sketching, & will spend way more time on it than I probably should (working on it). •My focus is the characters so backgrounds get painted in later when I do coloring. • Sketching is in done in blue for ease of inking later."

On the right is a sketched image of Melina and JJ looking towards the viewers. At the bottom reads "#WebcomicDay"

Process image of the comic Epic Chaos!, on the left it reads "INKS • Inking is the most tedious of the process for me. • I ink in black & then change the color to a dark brown (& other accent colors as needed) when I do the coloring later. • This is probably the most time consuming process (I get really stuck on details)

On the right is a inked image of Melina and JJ looking towards the viewers. At the bottom reads "#WebcomicDay"

Process image of the comic Epic Chaos!, on the left it reads "BASE COLOR • I sometimes pay my roommate to throw in base colors (saves me a few hours of work), then I touch up my roomies work. • Backgrounds get painted in! • Inks are colored. • I add in a gradient to skin & hair to add some visual interest.

On the right is a colored image of Melina and JJ looking towards the viewers. At the bottom reads "#WebcomicDay"
