Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Cheers & to you & everyone else. Not really on here much these days but very much aware this is a sector-wide concern here in the UK and elsewhere 010
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I'm on strike again. Depending on how things go, I may not teach another class until the end of October. Depressing, for many reasons. The University of Edinburgh continues to press ahead with massive job cuts, coming off the back of the largescale programme closures announced earlier this month. 2103
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Incidentally, while the fifth chapter will have a different title, the epigraphs and opening paragraph will remain the same 001
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I have finally started a document for Chapter 4, the penultimate chapter and the first of two focusing on different kinds of playgoing repetition. 140
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Have you ever heard Bob Dylan's 1994 live version of Desolation Row? Heard it for the first time this week and can think of little else. 000
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 01/09/2026Does anyone know why the Irukandji jellyfish venom is so strong? What possible purpose could it serve? Or is it just a weird quirk of our physiology that it has such an absurd effect on humans? Am genuinely interested to know, should anyone have an answer. 000

Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 18/08/2026This is tonight. If you are in Edinburgh why not come along to hear about & then to see, this still very resonant & powerful tragedy. Oh, and it's in a church, if that adds interest (I think it does). 030
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 13/08/2026It's Gosson, obv, but he is talking, in part, about his own play, so very Trump 020
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 13/08/2026These Playes are good playes and sweete playes, and of al playes the best playes and most to be liked, woorthy to bee soung of the Muses Stephen Gosson or Donald Trump? 100

Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 03/08/2026Don't know if it serves a good pedagogical purpose but I wrote one page introductions to each of the plays on the new early modern drama course, largely contextualizing each play (who performed it/when/where/why it might matter plus brief overview of some of the main issues). I enjoyed it, at least 160

Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 01/08/2026Especially in those productions were the possibility of fainting is on the horizon of expectation. 001
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 01/08/2026Maybe there has been work on this, but would be curious to know more. 000
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 01/08/2026Every time I see a story about audience membera fainting (latest - Cleansed at the Almedia) I wonder about the fainter's playgoing experience. Are they angry, disappointed, embarassed? Are they pleased, moved, excited? How do they feel after having had such an intense reaction? 250
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Christopher Nolan is going to do the Illiad next but he's decided against using Emily Wilson's translation and will instead go straight to the original source: Jennifer Lopez's first edition. 071
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 28/07/2026Not a fan of Nolan as such & don't know enough about him to make sensible claims but his status seems interesting. He does crowdpleasing blockbusters but also has the cultural status of an auteur. Heywood also curious - in fact deeply invested in literariness while writing consciously popular work. 130
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 28/07/2026Reading Emily Wilson's review of Nolan's Odyssey (which I have not yet seen) reminds me of the discourse around Thomas Heywood's spectacle Red Bull plays in the 17th century. Like Nolan, Heywood took on Greek myths & was accused of favouring noise & spectacle over supposedly literary qualities. 181

Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Spain are excellent but with Yamal obviously not fully fit I do think Argentina could have troubled them should they have decided to play some football. Likelihood is they would have lost but there's a way to lose isn't there. 001
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Aye look he has gone off on one at the end of the match! Madness. 010
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Who is the guy who blasted the ball at the Dutch dugout in the last world cup? Was it Paredes? Madman. Seems impervious to red cards. 110
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Let's hope there isn't another half time show during extra time 020
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 19/07/2026The Fernandez red might make the game *more* turgid, if that is possible. 010
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 19/07/2026A fully fit Yamal and Spain would be out of sight already 000
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Both Argentina CBs subbed off - what a chance now for Spain 000
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Out of interest, what are all of your reasons for disliking Argentina? There are many, but am interested in the principal objections. 100
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 18/07/2026Morgan Rogers for 150 million or whatever is insane, isn't it? He's pretty good but doesn't look anything like that level. 000
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 18/07/2026Even if England win this they'll get hammered by their own media now. 000
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 18/07/2026Thomas, just bring on Big Dan Burn, we know you want to. 010
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 18/07/2026I suppose one lesson for Tuchel would be to trust his squad more - he clearly lacked faith in a lot of his midfielders and attackers when it mattered most. 100
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 18/07/2026Imagine the English press if England were ever as bad as this diabolical French side have been this half. 010
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 18/07/2026Less than a week ago people were saying this French side was better than their 98 world cup side... 000
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 18/07/2026Not sure anything can be learned from this but it sure is funny 110
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 15/07/2026So much of what Tuchel has done has been refreshingly different from Southgate but that last half an hour or so was from the Southgate textbook of not knowing what to do with a lead (Croatia, WC2018; Italy EC2020). 011
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 15/07/2026I like Tuchel and he's obviously a good coach but he's fucked this. 241
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 15/07/2026He's obviously nowhere near as good as he was. And yet... 000
Eoin Price @eoinprice.bsky.social · 15/07/2026This match better end in a massive brawl involving all the subs and coaching staff 000
