I think it's reasonable to say a certain portion of the "neither proud nor ashamed" group would choose good if asked whether the BE was good or bad. Whether that's 50%+ or not is open to question. I'm not sure it detracts from my point that OPs definition of WS is so broad it's meaningless.

OP started with "People who think the British Empire was good are white supremacists." and changed it later. We've started conflating that with racism which isn't very helpful. The 50%+ comes from 72% being proud or not ashamed, if asked good/bad I think it could easily be over 50% good.
