Not much has changed. Animé is still an industry that destroys people with incredible working conditions. And lets be real: western animation is not much different. Crunch is real. As is overwork, unpaid overtime, burnout, etc. There are your reasons why there are hardly any 'old' animators.

This didn't make it to final, but in this shot I did for the opening of Amphibia, I deliberately chose to have Anne's leg break through Sprig's body between frames to maintain the clarity of the run. Is that the right call? It felt right to me! And I've done it in plenty of other places since. (1/3)

four screenshots of my shot from the amphibia intro, Anne is grabbing Sprig and as she runs forward somehow inexplicably Sprig shows up behind Anne's leg. A weird intentional choice, but an intentional one nonetheless!
