Finally got to season 3 of Sailor Moon and I was not prepared for how horny everyone is for Haruka. Like I knew there were lesbians involved but. I thought it was just gonna gay shenanigans be between the two of them. Not EVERYBODY. She got THE WHOLE CAST QUESTIONING THEIR SEXUALITY.

Yknow if you want a good litmus test for whether or not you're a good teacher try guiding your student(s) through a meditation. I think what makes a bad teacher is trying too hard to control their student. When you do a meditation you get ZERO feedback on whether or not they're even following along.

This also helps a lot because if I go into a draft knowing that I'll edit it later, then I get all hung up on it for some reason, I think because it puts me in this mindset of doubting myself because I assume the first draft of my work can never be my best work (but sometimes it is).

I haaaaaate editing so what I do is I call it the "enjoy my own work" phase where I just reread my draft a bunch of times and enjoy my own work. Inevitably, because I have good taste, I'll just notice parts that aren't working and I'll fix it.

Of course disclaimer that hyper efficient writing has it's own problems but I think that comes from not realizing that dialogue can serve a lot more purposes than just moving plot forward.

Mindset shift that improved my writing: Is the character saying this just because it's what the character would say in this situation? Or because the audience needs to hear it? If the audience doesn't actually need to hear it, you don't need to include it. Let them get it through context.
