Yeah, its something we have noticed watching a bunch of kaiju films in black & white, that you see all the details so much clearer. There's no colours to blend things together or distract your eyes So seeing every single strand of scale, flesh and gore on Shin Godzilla's design is...incredible

Shin Godzilla (2016) with @lluisabadias.bsky.social tonight, and we're trying it in black & white and...I was not expecting this film to become more body horror with all the colour stripped out 10 years on an this film is still painfully relevant & incredible One of the all-time great big G films 🦖

From the 2016 movie Shin Godzilla. The giant monster Godzilla, in a dog-live evolution form, charges through a Japanese street as civilians flee

I just had a look, it's called Video Editor 10, and there's some official legacy versions available if you search it up I can't remember the specific name of the filter, as it had a couple of B&W filters, but if you get it and play around a bit you can just dump a film in, then export in B&W

I think it was the old Microsoft Video Editor that was part of the original Win10 package (before they ruined it) There's a legacy version of it floating around that still does it, and it's surprisingly good for some films. Only really works on films that had A grade cinematography though

I've noticed that Revolution games tend to be surprisingly reasonable. They thankfully haven't had the same level of speculation as Lucasarts or Sierra did I ended up getting a copy of the original Broken Sword for about the same amount. The 2nd in my life that included a home-printed walkthrough 😂

Shin Godzilla is so terrifyingly beautiful, especially in black & white, it hurts It's been a few years since I last watched it, now I remember why. This isn't a film you watch every year for fun. It's the one you watch when you need to feel. When it all gets too much and you need an outlet

From the 2016 film Shin Godzilla. A city burns in black & white as the giant monster Godzilla breathes fire into already-burning buildings.

I had to use the same filter from PacRim to turn Shin Godzilla monochrome as it is so difficult to find the official version But damn, it was so incredibly worth it A stark & painful story of disaster, bureaucratic inaction, & impossible decisions, Shin Godzilla remains one of the best in the genre

From the 2016 film Shin Godzilla. The bipedal giant monster godzilla emerges from a cloud of debris dust.

There's some damn nice copies out there that aren't the original (which I think last time I looked were going for like $400usd for a fully boxed copy) The only other box I really want is the Legend of Kyrandia Hand of Fate box with the tarot card cover Wish I still had mine from childhood

They really didn't take into account that barely any Australians actually have a credit card, compared to places like the US where you can't really function without one (I'm so glad we don't have credit scores) My account is definitely older than 18 years at this point too Such a terrible system

Honestly I gave up on Steam ever trying to be a better platform when they started constantly putting Fascist Fucker games on the main page, while burying queer titles if they weren't mainstream hits It's a joke of a near-monopoly

Kaiju - Monstrous Non-Binary ⚧️🦖 @enbykaiju.itch.io · 10/10/2026

Age verification systems are a problematic & an openly hostile way to gate off media/art to the masses. It's also weaponised in a way to be hostile to marginalised folks and limit freedom of information & thought They can't even do it consistently, demonstrating a lack of any understanding

2140

Kaiju - Monstrous Non-Binary ⚧️🦖 @enbykaiju.itch.io · 10/10/2026

You can tell that Steam didn't think through the whole credit card age verification thing, because all those naughty games that I'm not allowed to access (despite being nearly 39) are still all over the Steam trending page So they didn't even bother to update the algorithm to exclude adult games?

There's a reason why a lot of non-binary folks only ever hang around other non-binary folks We are othered, even in queer spaces. It fucking sucks Park of why I became Kaiju, was because of how I was made to feel like a strange creature even among those I should have been able to see as family

There isn't just one non-binary gender or identity That's the damn point But all folks have to do is ask, and respect that I still don't feel safe, even among most binary queer spaces, because non-binary folks don't fit into a neat little identity box Just see us how we want to be seen

Most people, on seeing me even after 8 years on HRT, still catagorise me as a man. I cannot fucking stand that. Even after being told repeatedly not to he/him me will do it anyway But I also get women's groups saying "you're one of us now!", when no, that's not the case either

My own enby creds: I've been open & out as non-binary since late 2017. In that time I've been as publicly open as is possible to be without wearing a shirt/button that says "I am non-binary, here are my pronouns" Because you know what? Even when I have, people still fuck it up. It feels intentional

Had this on my mind all morning, and it's brought up a lot of long-term rough feelings about how amab (I hate that term) non-binary folks are treated as either effeminate men, or women-lite There's such a level of disrespect that demonstrates just how far many will go to maintain the binary 🧵
