Added passkeys to Slow Reader because they make UX much simpler, especially with E2E encryption, where there’s no password recovery. In the LLM era, criteria and UI taste matter most. Two passkey guides from @agektmr.com: web.dev/articles/pas... web.dev/articles/pas...

How to store encryption keys in a web app. With XSS, code can read a key from memory. Better wrap it in a CryptoKey and store it in IndexedDB: it can encrypt/decrypt, but the key itself can’t be extracted. That’s how I store the E2E key in Slow Reader: github.com/hplush/slowr...

Venus against the Moon, by Arnaud Mariat. Venus looks brighter because it’s closer to the Sun, and because its clouds are bright, while the Moon is roughly the color of asphalt.

Even Nano Stores got rewritten in Rust! github.com/yaroher/nano... Seriously though, it’s an interesting experiment for connecting JS and Rust stores, for example, to speed up performance-critical parts when you’ve moved your app logic into Nano Stores.

Turn your website’s loading process into music. Forbes sounds surprisingly good. You could loop it and work to it. A great example of a website where someone clearly thought through every detail. We need more of that in the LLM era. blog.alena.rocks/en/artifacts...

I liked Madou’s “parody” The Crow, The Tiger and The Rabbit (MD-0240) even more. It riffs on the popular Taiwanese film The Pig, the Snake and the Pigeon, which tackles the very real social issue of religious cults in Asia, with references to an actual cult.

After fascists won in Spain, “exilio” (“exile”) disappeared from some dictionaries. The regime avoided it publicly. “Emigración” suggested simply leaving; “exilio” implied coercion and the regime’s responsibility for forcing hundreds of thousands out. www.peterlang.com/document/119...

The famous 1995 Ghost in the Shell anime was very different from the manga: the manga was funnier, lighter, and much more sexual. The new 2026 series, which just wrapped up yesterday, feels like the most faithful attempt yet to capture the spirit of the original manga.

Rust’s Cargo had a supply-chain attack too. Someone stole an arrayref (700K downloads/day) maintainer’s access token and published a release with a malicious transitive dependency. blog.rust-lang.org/2026/08/20/s... A reminder that supply-chain attacks aren’t just a npm problem.
