Our Sea-Watch 5 completed a third rescue early this morning! After being threatened by an actor identifying as the “Libyan Navy”, we were able to rescue another 72 people close to an oil platform. We now have 151 people on board! 📸 Adrian Pourviseh

🚨 Yesterday evening, an unknown militia circled the Sea-Watch 5, forcing everyone onboard inside. They pulled back. Later, the crew responded to an @alarmphone.bsky.social alert & rescued 51 ppl. from a sinking boat, including a pregnant woman. Many have severe burns. Save lives. Not borders.

🔴 Our vessel Sea-Watch 5 has just rescued 28 people in distress, more than half of them minors, from a rubber boat spotted from the air by @sosmediterranee.org We are relieved to know they are safe from the horrors of Libyan detention.

We met Francesca Albanese in Lampedusa during the shipwreck commemorations on October 3, 2013. Together, we drew connections between the genocide in Palestine and the events unfolding in the Mediterranean.

Italy forces us to sail for 14,5 more hours?! This morning, our Aurora crew rescued 17 people who reported being at sea for more than 20 hours. They are exhausted, seasick and dehydrated - they need a port of safety now!

Doesn't matter how hard they try to get rid of us - we have international law on our side! ⚖️ The Sea-Watch 5 is back in the Mediterranean and ready to support people on the move. We wish our crew fair winds. 📸 Maria Giorgi

12 hours. That's how long the Italian authorities knew about this boat before our crew reached the survivors. 12 hours in which people died. 6 people, including children, are still missing. What happened in that time? 👇

All 28 survivors finally reached Lampedusa & disembarked safely. The 2 dead bodies were transferred to the Italian authorities. Our thoughts are with the survivors, the deceased & their loved ones. We will keep fighting for safe passages!

At least 6 people, including 3 children, are reportedly missing. Lampedusa has finally been assigned to us as a place of safety. Our Aurora crew is on its way there with the 28 survivors of the horrific shipwreck and 2 dead bodies. 👉 tinyurl.com/arjc9jak

Yesterday our ship Aurora and our Seabird plane reached a rubber boat with 13 people on board, signaled by @alarmphone.bsky.social south of Lampedusa. The Italian coastguard intervened and brought all the people safely to land.

We do not follow the EU's values compass. Because that would mean ignoring international law. Over the past two days, three NGO ships rescued 102 people at sea. Here's what our aircrew witnessed. 🧵

🔴 Detention suspended - our Sea-Watch 5 sails to rescue again! After supporting six people in distress in August, Italian authorities wanted to block us for 45 days. After 33 days, the court in Naples suspended the order! Another round, another win in court! ➡️https://tinyurl.com/4ke5tt5b

Interceptions, communication manipulation and persistent failure by authorities were the main observations of our aircraft between January and June this year. While NGOs are being detained, the EU & its accomplices are continuing their violence in the Central Mediterranean.

In Malta's Search and Rescue Region, "rescue" stands for ignorance. Most people who risk drowning here don't get saved - they get kidnapped by Libyan militias and disappear. Yesterday, Seabird 3 spotted a boat with 17 people in distress, and everyone knew what would come next.

AMA, the boat of NGO Sailidarity, rescued 4 people from the Didon platform yesterday. States fall short; civil society shows up. States stop watching; our aircraft don't. We wish the survivors all the best for their future!

A live show of Europe's brutal migration regime. Yesterday, our Seabird 3 witnessed a distress case, and while @sos-humanity.bsky.social's ship Humanity1 was in position and could have rescued about 10 people from a rubber boat, a Libyan RHIB got there first.

Our aircraft Seabird 3 caught @frontex.bsky.social red-handed🚨Yesterday, its aircraft EAGLE6 sent a Mayday Relay for a wooden boat in danger. NGO ship Solidaire responded – but minutes later, a so-called Libyan coastguard asset called Frontex asking for the exact position.

Exclusive: audio we're releasing for the first time. "Go back there, or I swear to god, I shoot you." A rescue crew, threatened at sea while people were intercepted. Silence is the EU strategy: Don't give it to them.

Europe's solution to drowning people: pay someone else to make them disappear. ~60 people fleeing Libya were stuck on a rubber boat today, water pouring in. Our plane Seabird 3 flew to scene. Before the Tunisian navy showed up, Frontex dodged their legal obligations:

Today, our rescue vessel Aurora2 saved 36 people in distress from an overcrowded boat. The Port of Safety assigned by 🇮🇹 is unreachable due to limited fuel. The ship is almost in Lampedusa & the survivors, among them a baby, need to reach safety ASAP. Let us enter Lampedusa!

Today, our Seabird aircrew spotted 3 dead bodies at sea near a capsized rubber boat. Yesterday, Sea-Watch 5 found 8 bodies in advanced decomposition. The Central Mediterranean is a state-led cemetery. We mourn the dead. Let's remember: Another world is possible. End the killing.

To ensure that as few rescue ships as possible are in the rescue area, Italy sends us to the northern port Marina di Carrara, 4+ days away!! This is cruel & irresponsible. Not only do the survivors need safe land, but people at sea need rescue. Meloni, how do you sleep at night?

Sea-Watch 5 is back at sea after the attack by Libyan militias in May. It's already rescued 52 people: 40 yesterday, 12 today – a pregnant woman needs urgent medical care. On average, 8 people die in the Mediterranean per day. Instead of organizing rescue, Italy keeps us away:

After our Seabird spotted ~42 people on a rubber boat in distress, Libyan militias abducted them all to Libya. In fear of their life, 20 people who were in the water tried to get away from the militias and chose the risk of death over the prospect of being returned to Libya.

At least 11 people died yesterday when Italian & Maltese authorities decided too late that a boat with ~60 people in distress was worth rescuing. Instead, the fishing vessel TUNCAY SAGUN-2 rescued 48 people. Malta & Italy arrived only later, we saw 11 corpses onboard the 🇮🇹 vessel.

This is what the EU pays Libyan militias to do: A person bound at the ankles with plastic cable ties, unable to move while being abducted to Libya on a boat donated by Italy. Our aircraft witnessed this human rights abuse yesterday, the EU needs to answer for what it's funding!

Our aircraft Seabird is back in the air & we just witnessed an interception by Libyan militias. Very similar to the boat that shot at Sea-Watch 5: made in Italy. Rescue by @soshumanity_en was minutes away. Yet people were forced back to Libya. Racist violence, EU-funded.

Europe decides who is worth saving. Today, it decided 60 people weren't. Our plane watched them get captured by EU-trained militias and returned to Libya: detention, torture, rape, forced labour. Documented by UN and @Amnesty.de, approved by @consilium.europa.eu paid for with your taxes.

Italian boats abduct people: Yesterday, our aircraft saw an Italian-gifted patrol boat used by the so-called Libyan coastguard to kidnap around 17 people back to Libya. It is the same boat that was circling our Sea-Watch 5 on the day the Libyan militias shot at us.

After rescuing 166 people at sea, we finally disembarked in Brindisi. Italy once again assigned a distant port, forcing survivors to spend 4 more days at sea after our ship was being shot at and chased by militias. We wish all survivors the best and applaud their courage.

Yesterday, our aircraft Seabird 2 followed a Frontex plane circling in the Maltese rescue zone. We found an empty boat. We fear the people aboard were intercepted & abducted by Libyan militias. We need accountability for the silence around their fate & Frontex’s role in it!

@frontex.bsky.social, are you serious? Your aircraft saw a boat in distress but instead of informing ships for rescue, it only informed planes. Our air-crew reacted, flew to the scene & did what Frontex should've: inform ships. @resqship_int brought all survivors to Lampedusa this morning✊

Last night, our Aurora was the only civil rescue ship in the Central Mediterranean. We found an empty rubber boat. Empty boats often indicate that people were illegally pulled back to Libya. This is the reality at Europe's borders: illegal abduction of people fleeing to safety.

Our aircraft observed a damaged Russian tanker drifting unmanned through the Mediterranean for weeks: hundreds of tonnes of fuel oil, an environmental bomb. the Libyan state had to hire a private firm to deal with it. The further south it drifts, the less Europe acts. Sounds familiar?

WE MADE IT! The remaining 57 guests disembarked from #SeaWatch5 & can finally get the medical treatment they need. It's been a long & exhausting journey, escalated through Italy's power plays. At last, all 93 survivors are on safe land – no thanks to Giorgia Meloni & Piantedosi!
